He holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Central Washington University and a Master's in Public Administration from the University of Washington. He has completed the Major Cities Chiefs Associations Police Executive Leadership Institute, the Cascade Executive Program and the Senior Management Institute of Policing. Diaz has authored numerous national publications in community policing, misdemeanor justice and juvenile justice.

Alcohol to go with the LCB
20m · PublishedDuring the 2023 legislative session, the Washington state legislature passed Substitute Senate Bill (SSB) 5448 regarding an extension of alcohol delivery and takeout privileges introduced by the legislature during the COVID-19 pandemic. The LCB will provide an overview of the bill covering what was extended or discontinued regarding alcohol to-go. The agency is currently undergoing rulemaking to implement these legislative changes.
