Welcome Back to Creatively Brief

3m · Published 02 Sep 11:00

During the course of the pandemic, I took some time to find a new workflow that worked better for me to make sure I could stay on top of all of my responsibilities. Because of that, I took a break from posting new episodes for a while to figure out what that new workflow looked like. But I'm very excited to be posting again. I'll be back to my normal weekly schedule of posting new episodes and I can't wait to bring you more content. Thank you for sticking around while I was figuring the new workflow out and I can't wait to bring you more content very soon.

In today’s episode, I was able to sit down and talk to designer and hand-letterer, Will Paterson. We talked about Will’s own experience and introduction to design, his transition to YouTube, and the importance of building other designers up and encouraging them to continue learning. 21 - Justin Van Genderen: Fusing Science with Design

54m · Published 27 May 12:00

This week I had the opportunity to sit down with design Justin Van Genderen from 2046 Design. I've been a fan of Justin's work for a while so this was an exciting episode to record. In our conversation, we talked about the influence of science and technology on Justin's life and career, his creative process behind the designs he makes, and how he decides which designs will be stocked for his shop. Along with his design work, Justin is heavily inspired by space and technology, including people, companies, and projects like Nikola Tesla, NASA, and the Apollo space missions. It's not often that you see a fusion of science/technology and graphic design so Justin's work stands out by doing just that. Whether you're interested in starting an e-commerce business or you're interested in space, today's episode is a great listen.

19 - Daren Magee: Activism in Art - A Voice for Artists & Designers

1h 49m · Published 13 May 12:00
This week I talked with illustrator Daren Magee. Daren has become a full-time illustrator in the past couple of years and in our conversation we talked about his shift into a full-time artist, the difference between art and design, and social media etiquette. We got into some awesome conversations around cultural appropriation and how artists and designers can value themselves more. This episode is full of great insights from Daren and full of his thoughts on activism in the art community. He fights back against art being stolen from artists in hopes that it will bring awareness to those who simply don't know and that it will give younger designers and artists the courage to speak up for themselves. Daren has some really incredible work and is always posting new work so make sure to check out his work here: Instagram: @realfunwow Website: https://realfunwow.com/ In today's episode, Daren and I mentioned a few resources outside this podcast.
