Parenting in Today's World

25m · Published 03 Sep 11:54
Can you be a full time parent and a full time employee at the same time now? This week's guest, Rai Mosher, and I talk about "invisible parenting' and the challenges facing parents today. She offers wisdom and insight from her experiences and how she combats the stigma of "invisible parenting" with her colleagues and employees, giving them the space to balance parenting and work simultaneously. This is a great episode especially if you're a parent trying to do it all. Rainya "Rai" Mosher has been a technology professional for most all of her adult life. Along the way, she also been an international speaker, a vocalist in Europe, and an actress on stage, in commercials, and a couple long-forgotten short films. Most importantly, she's been a parent for 15 of her 20+ years in technology, first to a now-sophomore in high school and then to a currently 4-year-old preschooler. Along the way, Rai has continuously been equal parts transparent about her career and kiddos while also continuously apologizing for falling short in both home and work at different moments in time.  As the global pandemic puts many knowledge workers into a uniquely challenging scenario of simultaneously being a full time parent and full time employee , Rai is learning to replace the apologies to her colleagues for parenting in real time with an assumption of gratitude for their patience and understanding. She encourages her coworkers -- male and female alike! -- to find the same approach in their own work/life "blender." In turn, Rai is helping to shift the culture around her in small but meaningful ways with the hope of creating lasting change for anyone who finds themselves both an employee and a family member - now and in the future.   Learn more about your ad choices. Wellness and Health in the Modern World

31m · Published 13 Aug 10:28
The most recent National Health Interview Survey reports that in the preceding 12 months, 38% of Americans used complementary and alternative medicine. Wellness and health is a critical concern for everyone, especially now. People have questions and they're seeking answers. What if those answers lie in a new way of looking at it. Our guest this week, Mary Ann Rounseville has some big ideas around that. If you are interested or are working in the CBD, Hempe, and Cannabis space this is for you - but even if you're not, this interview is an eye opener. Mary Ann Rounseville is the CEO of Sweet Pepper Media, the messaging arm of the Stanley Brothers, and leads the charge with a focus on human storytelling, designed to illuminate the critical causes, issues, and impacts of the human journey towards personal and social wellness. Mary Ann’s deep fervency to document the human experience motivates her to seek partnerships and minds that propel progress.  While pursuing her own natural wellness journey, Mary Ann met the pioneering plant-medicine entrepreneurs, the Stanley Brothers in 2016, a revolutionary time for the CBD and the cannabis movement. Fueled by the Brothers’ mission to reimagine wellness for everyone, she became the Director of Content for their trailblazing CBD start-up and now global leader, Charlotte’s Web. She shaped storytelling and communications to further open access to cannabis, empower people with knowledge, and the right to chose natural options. Prior to that, she developed and produced content for Bulletproof, West Elm, Google, and Nike as well as Oscar and Emmy-winning writers and directors.  Learn more about your ad choices. Value And Opportunity

You want sales. But you're not going to get sales by just "doing sales". It's simpler than that, more human, which is good news! Mark Boundy believes that sales is "heart to heart combat" and what he means is that people don't buy your product and services, they buy from their own set of values and your job is to discover and communicate your value in relation to that. I know it sounds touchy-feely but let's be honest - we're all in the People Business so we're going to have to understand people if we're going to get anywhere. Business builder, Sales leader, author, coach, consultant, teacher…Chief Clarity Officer…Mark Boundy has grown businesses in a variety of industries by virtue of his relentless focus on uncovering customer value and delivering high-value results.
