RUSH: This Jussie Smollett business or Smollett. Does anybody know what the real pronunciation is? I still have not heard the name pronounced. I guess you’re just gonna have to forgive me if I get it wrong here. You know what I find funny about this? You know what this is. This is this Empire actor, who’s gay and black and hates Trump. And, apparently, his first hoax — and I can’t understand this either. Forgive me. I’ve gone to three different media sources on this, and I still can’t decipher.

CALLER: You know, it’s like a sucker bunch, babe, and, you know, this is how this country was, what, 71 years ago, although you wouldn’t know it on the news today because nobody wants to talk about Pearl Harbor and where our country was then, but let’s go to the present, okay? And, I’ll tell you, everything you just said about women and looking at the — oh, you’re so right, you’re so right, and this is my Merry Christmas present to myself, just talking with you, because you — I don’t know where — we just pray for your daily effort on this —

RUSH:Hey, guess what, we got Senator Dole on the phone, Senator Dole is back on the road. He's. Are you in Houston, Senator Dole?

Dole:Just landed in Houston and I have Governor Bush and President Bush in the car with me here.

RUSH:Well, terrific. We're sorry we missed you on Friday, but you're going all out and I'm telling you, Senator, there's optimism out there. I'm sure you see it and know it, but it doesn't hurt for you to to be told from independent sources.

Dole:No, we really - you know, it feels good. We're not obviously if you believe polls we're still a little bit behind, but there's a lot of enthusiasm. We feel good about it. We think, you know, we've been on the road 75 straight hours. We've got 21 to go. The crowds are big, enthusiastic. They want this guy out of there.

RUSH:That's absolutely that's absolutely right. How are you holding up?

Dole:Holding up very well, we got my - I'm little hoarse, but otherwise in good shape. We get a little catnaps on the airplane and we've got about four or five stops to go and it'll be noon tomorrow and I'll vote in Russell, Kansas, and then we'll head back to Washington, D.C. to watch the victory return.

RUSH:Senator Dole, I got to I've got to run this by you because I know if you haven't heard it, it's just going to amuse you. But in the political hotline today, there's a story running around that after the election, should the president somehow manage to eke this out, that he's going to ask you to head up the Medicare reform bipartisan blue ribbon committee? And you know, there's there's all this. The president's going to hire a bunch of Republicans to replace retiring cabinet officers and write your names out there is setting up the Medicare bipartisan. Would you care to decline or accept that offer now?

Dole:I'm glad I would decline an offer of over the strong feeling as far as senior citizens. But after he has distorted the truth and the facts about Medicare, I wouldn't feel comfortable serving that position. And we're going to win. So maybe he'll chair the commission.

RUSH: Once again, Mr. Vice President, it’s a thrill and an honor to have you with us, sir.

VICE PRESIDENT RICHARD B. CHENEY: Well, good afternoon, Rush.

RUSH: All right. First thing. We just had a call that leads me into my first question for you about the economy. The caller was frustrated that the party at large doesn’t seem to be getting the news out about how good the economy is, and indeed the economic statistics are fabulous — unemployment, middle-class wage growth, Dow Jones Industrial Average flirting with 12,000 — and yet we’re told that people don’t “feel” this economy is good. Why do you think that is, if it’s true, and how do you all plan to use the economy in the next three weeks of the campaign?

THE VICE PRESIDENT: Well, I think first of all you’re absolutely right, Rush. The economy is very good. I’ve been involved with a lot of campaigns going back nearly 40 years, and I’m hard put to find a time when things were as good as they are now for the party from our perspective, and you’ve cited all the data. We’ve got over 6.6 million jobs we’ve added in a little over three years now. Home ownership is at an all-time record high. The stock market is at a high. Everything is really kicking along in great shape.

RUSH: Grab audio sound bite number three. The TNT network does television coverage of the NBA. Now, we all know what’s happened to late-night comedy. It doesn’t exist anymore. There isn’t any. Late-night comedy has become left-wing agenda-driven anger and hate. Rather than looking for laughs from their audiences, late-night comics and stand-up comics are seeking applause for when they themselves endeavor to start getting into the hate game.

The hatred of Donald Trump, the hatred of Republicans, the hatred of conservatives. Well, this has left a void. There isn’t any humor? There isn’t any professional humor. I think it’s an amazing thing (chuckling) what Donald Trump has done. Look at all of the industries that he literally is doing great damage to. Late-night comics? I mean, these are the people that inherited the mantle and the role of Johnny Carson, David Letterman and all those?

RUSH: Ronald Brownstein (former Los Angeles Times and now with the National Journal; that’s the Hotline crew) with a long story entitled, ‘White Flight — President Obama’s path to a second term may rely on states shaped by the same social forces he embodies,’ and what this story does quite graphically is illustrate that our man-child president of color not only has failed to bring us together, he has driven us further apart by race — and, more specifically, in the Democrat Party. It is white Democrats and white independents who have fled Obama and the Democrat Party. This story details how Obama has lost almost all of his white support. Not all, but almost.

RUSH: The police chief in Chicago is furious. The police superintendent, Eddie Johnson, who announced these charges against Smollett in the first place. If you’re just turning on the radio, the Chicago DA, the state attorney, Kim Foxx, who had recused herself from this case, has announced that charges against Jussie Smollett have been dropped, and the police were not consulted. They didn’t know.

RUSH: Okay. The Jussie Smollett (or Smollett, however he pronounces it) case. When this whole thing happened, you’ll notice (if you are a regular, careful listener) that I didn’t go to there. To me, there was something that didn’t look right or smell right. And when I saw all of these Hollywood people immediately jump on this thing and start claiming that it was a bunch of deranged Trump people attacking a poor black guy in Chicago, I said, “Waaaaaait a minute. It’s just too pat.”

So, I waited, and it turns out now that ABC 7 WLS TV Chicago is reporting it’s a hoax, that two guys pretended to beat up Smollett and that they’re bit players, actors, on the show Empire. They’re Nigerian. They left town the day after the attack. They’ve come back. The cops have identified them. The cops have raided their apartment. The cops have their cell phones and their computers. But, remember, Jussie Smollett…
