RUSH: I think the first thing we need to do out there, folks — well, not we, but the Republican Party, needs to just simply say that Jim McGreevey is now the official face of the Republican Party and end all this criticism. That way when McGreevey goes on Oprah as Mark Foley probably will not, then, you know, it’ll sort of balance the scales out there. I’m also looking at a new merchandising opportunity here, folks. You remember back in the early days of this program when the left was telling us that we needed safe sex out there and that safe sex equaled the condom, and I said let’s illustrate how effective that would be and I went out and did speeches and I put a condom over a microphone calling it “safe talk” trying to illustrate that the condom would protect the audience of anything offensive or rank that I might say.

RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, do you remember post-Lewinsky, in the second term of Bill Clinton, that AP ran a series of stories — picked up by all of the other Drive-By Media — telling us that lying was good? ‘Little’ lies were helpful. They spared people’s feelings. ‘Everybody does it.’ It actually has redeeming social quality and value, if not done too much, but even then, you know, within reason, lying is actually a well-calculated way to get through life, causing yourself less pain and, obviously, others less pain. Well, you won’t believe this. So Clinton appears on Fox News Sunday this past Sunday — Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday — so it’s four days ago, and I have here, ladies and gentlemen, in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers a story from our buddies at the Associated Press by Jocelyn Noveck:

‘Is It Cool to Lose Your Cool? … That’s one of the questions of the week as we evaluate and re-evaluate Bill Clinton’s finger-pointing, knee-poking interview with Chris Wallace on Fox. The first debate, of course, was whether Clinton had actually lost it at all — a ‘full-bore tantrum,’ one conservative columnist called it — or knew exactly what he was doing. But splitting the difference for a moment, the interesting issue becomes…’ I kid you not. (laughing) I can’t say this with a straight face. ‘Can public anger in politics, business, and elsewhere be a good thing?’ (Laughing.) Yes! Let’s have more road rage. Let’s have more threatening of journalists. You hear what Ailes said? Ailes came out and said this was ‘an assault or an attack on all journalists.’ He said Clinton was totally over the top. I’m not kidding you, folks. We have a story here from the AP on how this is really good!

RUSH: You know what I thought we would do, and it would be instructive. Do you remember Obama’s speech in Berlin in July 2008? Given that one of the things we’re talking about today is people’s frustration, people on the left — they’d vote for him again, make no mistake. But the Drive-Bys and a lot of people, they’re really wringing their hands over the fact that Obama gave a lukewarm, passionless, didn’t look like he really cared set of remarks about the beheading of James Foley, and then, 10 minutes later, is on the golf course.

You ought to see the UK Daily Mail story on this. I mean, it is brutal. Let me just read you the subheadlines in this story. The primary headline is this: “Fist bump: Furious reactions to Obama´s joyful 5-hour golf game overshadow his 5-minute ISIS speech as he teed off immediately after condemning American photojournalist James Foley’s executioners.”

RUSH: “On Feb. 4, 2010, when the House of Representatives voted to increase the legal limit on the national debt by another $1.9 trillion (lifting the limit from $12.394 trillion to $14.294 trillion), not one Republican voted for the increase.”

It’s amazing how this tracks. It’s like I just said: If you go back to 2006, not one Democrat voted to raise the debt limit in 2006. Republicans ran the show then. One year ago, not one Republican voted to raise the debt ceiling when they didn’t run the show, of course. Just a year ago, one year, the debt ceiling has gone up by $2 trillion. Now, “Then-Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R.-Va.) rose on the House floor that day and declared that it was ‘beyond comprehension’ and ‘a travesty’ to talk about raising the legal debt limit to $14.294 trillion.

“Last week, the Republican House leadership agreed to a deal with President Barack Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D.-Nev.) to spend $3.7555 trillion in this fiscal year — even though at the close of business Friday, as the deal was being struck, the Treasury reported that it could borrow only an additional $80.85 billion before hitting the $14.294-trillion debt limit Congress set last year.” So the debt ceiling increase of last year, we’re bumping up agin’ it now — against it. We need to raise it again.

RUSH: I’ve gotta do this. I’ve gotta tell you about this. It’s in USA Today. It’s a USA Today story, and it is the most incredible attempt to advance the failure of liberal Democrat ideas on social welfare. Here’s the headline: “Fertility Gap Helps Explain Political Divide — House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, a Catholic mother of five from San Francisco, has fewer children in her district than any other member of Congress: 87,727. Rep. Chris Cannon, R-Utah, a Mormon father of eight, represents the most children: 278,398. These two extremes reflect a stark demographic divide between the congressional districts controlled by the major political parties. Republican House members overwhelmingly come from districts that have high percentages of married people and lots of children, according to a USA Today analysis of 2005 Census Bureau data released last month. GOP Congress members represent 39.2 million children younger than 18, about 7 million more than Democrats. Republicans average 7,000 more children per district.”

RUSH: So the word is that Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are going to be speaking at an anti-Iran deal rally on the Washington mall today, and I think they’re gonna be speaking English. I’m not sure about it, but my best inside information is that Trump and Cruz are gonna be speaking English at the anti-Iran nuke deal rally, which the left will probably see as a hate crime.

You know, I hope Trump doesn’t do what the Huckster did to Cruz. Did you see what happened to Cruz in Kentucky? Did you see this? Okay. Well, I’m not sure exactly what happened here. I know that Huckabee announced this big fanfare thing. He’s gonna go in there and he’s gonna get Kim Davis out of jail, and he even promised to serve her jail time if that’s what it took.

RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, let’s turn back the hands of time. Earlier this year you will recall during the continuing resolution debate, the funding of the budget, the raising of the debt limit, I was urging from behind the Golden EIB Microphone, John Boehner, the Republican leadership, to force Obama to cave, that we were the ones who held the position of strength coming off the 2010 midterm elections, which was a landslide shellacking. The Democrats lost 63 seats in the House. Well, it’s a net number that the Republicans have now in the leadership, in their lead. All the way down the ballot, state and local issues, the Democrats just took a bath. And I said winners don’t compromise with losers. Losers compromise with winners.

RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, there’s so much out there that seems on the surface to be inexplicable. The problem in this country, as a majority of people recognize, I mean, look at this poll here. Look at this. It is a poll from the Pew Research Center. The bottom line: 81% of the people in this country are dissatisfied. Eighty-one percent are dissatisfied. Do you think they’re dissatisfied with Ted Cruz? Do you think they’re dissatisfied with the Tea Party? Do you think they’re dissatisfied with the opposition to Barack Obama? The Republican Party obviously thinks so, but that is tantamount insanity.

“A new poll shows more frustration with Washington over the government shutdown and risk of default, with the number of people satisfied with the state of the country plummeting to the lowest level since the 2008 financial crisis. Only 14 percent of Americans said they were satisfied with the way things are going in the US. … The survey also picked up a strong ‘throw the bums out’ sentiment.”

RUSH: There is a story today, SI.com. Actually, it was posted yesterday. Headline: ‘There’s No Better Place to be Sports Fan Right Now Than Philadelphia.’ I want to read a small excerpt, go to the break, and come back and delve into this in detail. It’s a good story about Philadelphia at SI, SportsIllustrated.com. But buried in this article, which I hold here right here in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers, buried in this article is this: ‘Passion like this takes strange forms. While the rest of the country saw Donovan McNabb as a franchise quarterback, Philly fans sensed, earlier than most of us, that McNabb was overrated.’

If you note that I sound somewhat frustrated, you would not be incorrect, because none of this is news. All of us are caught up in the middle of never-ending political agendas, but it’s disguised as news. We’re being told that this is news. “This is earth-shattering, breaking news! Why, we had no idea this was coming,” and that’s not at all what any of this is. This is all prepackaged. It’s preplanned.

It’s been edited and formatted, and it’s been timed. It has everything about it designed to move forward a political agenda. But everybody involved in that’s saying, “No, no! There’s nothing going on here. We just have an honorable guy who’s very, very worried about the country and wants to set the record.” If he wants to set the record straight, why did he wait a year and do it for millions of dollars? If he cares so damn much about this.
