You Are The One With Kute Blackson
59m · PublishedThis was a game changing interview on the Building Men Podcast. I had the opportunity to speak with a truly enlightened human being - Kute Blackson. We discuss: Breaking free from the expectations and shadows of our fathers, spirituality, being brutally honest with ourselves, dulling the pain of our existence and finding ways to truly feel aligned. Kute shares his thoughts about masculine rights of passage, meditation, and the concepts of mortality, transcendence and spirituality. You will want to have a notebook nearby to take notes.
A charismatic visionary and transformational teacher, Kute Blackson offers a fresh, bold look at spiritual awareness for a whole new generation. Born in Ghana, West Africa, Kute's multicultural upbringing as the child of a Japanese mother and a Ghanaian father has spanned four different continents. His unique lineage lay the foundation for his approach to breaking down barriers and unlocking an individual's true gifts and greatness.
Though Kute was raised all over the world, he had always dreamed of life in America. As if by kismet, he won a green card just after finishing school in London. He came to America alone just months later, with no connections or prospects. When Kute arrived in Los Angeles, all he had to his name were two suitcases and the dream of seeking out the spiritual and self-help icons who had inspired him when he was a boy.
Kute quickly learned that the "outside-in" approach favored by so many in the personal development space had to become an inside-out approach. So he decided to create his own method—a process that liberates the individual and the true self at the core and then pushes those gifts outward into the universe. This helps the individual get in touch with who they really are. It is a process of breaking free—so that the individual can live, give, and share the truest expression of their self. This is what Kute calls "Liberated Living."
Kute is a next generation world leader out to awaken millions to Love and to Live their inspired destiny.
I highly recommend following along with Kute and learning from him as I have.

You'll Be a Man My Son with Denny Morolda
45m · PublishedI started the Building Men Movement in 2005, a few months after my son Denny was born. When I started the Building Men as a middle school assistant principal, I would never have imagined that I would have the opportunity to interview my son seventeen years later. During the evolution of Building Men, I have kept Denny at the center of my mission, reminding myself that I needed to live my life with integrity to live up to the promises I made to him when he was born.
Have I always lived up to that promise? No. I have made mistakes as a man and as a father. I haven’t always been my best for him. Over the past 17 years, I have failed as a father, and I have succeeded as a father. Every day when I wake up, I know that the way I live my life and the lessons I can teach him have an opportunity to leave a legacy that will impact his life and the lives of others who are lucky enough to know him. It is my hope that the way I have lived and the lessons I have taught him have made an imprint on who he is a human being and who he will become as a leader of men in the future.
On this funny and emotional episode, I interview my son, Denny about his experience in school, on the football field and some life lessons learned (and not learned) growing up with me as his old man. We talk about him being a child of divorced parents, we talk about how he overcame difficulties in his life and how he used those experiences to become a better leader in his life. (We also talk about how Denny miraculously passed his driving test even though he almost killed two living creatures, PEENI and elbow sacs.). I am absolutely in awe of this kid.
Happy birthday son. You are one of the most amazing people I have ever met in my life and I am honored to be your father. I love you Denny.
