Do parents even know what discipline means? It is not about punishment or harshness. It's about teaching and coaching your kids to become men and women of character and virtue. While abuse- any form of physical and/or psychological consequences are not recommended, there are consequences for inappropriate behavior that are helpful. A lap on the hand of a pat on the butt are not considered harmful. Doing nothing may be more harmful.

Discipline means different things to different people when they hear the word. Is it punishment, coercion, or consequences? Or is it a form of training, teaching and coaching? Discipline is training or teaching or coaching oneself or another to modify behavior for a positive and moral purpose. At its foundation must be self-control, self- restraint and impulse control.
