One in seven Americans participate in Dry January, and the one-month sobriety challenge has quickly become a popular way for many of us to kick off the new year on a healthier note.

As the temperature drops and we all spend more time indoors, we thought it would be timely to do an episode about how we make our homes cozier so we are embracing the winter season, instead of wishing the cold days away. I’m sure you’ve all seen or heard of the Danish word ‘hygge’ which is all about surrounding yourself with the things that make life good, like friendship, laughter, and security, as well as more concrete things like warmth, light, seasonal food, and drinks.

In this episode, we have on fitness coach Allie Rickard to talk all things women's health. Allie is a certified instructor in several types of fitness, and has built a career around helping women look and feel their best. One way that women can feel their best is through cycle syncing, something Allie has been practicing for several years now.

The term cycle syncing was first introduced by Alisa Vitti, an integrative nutritionist and women’s hormone expert, in her debut book Woman Code published in 2014. The method describes adjusting aspects of your life, such as how you eat and exercise, based on the phases of your menstrual cycle to help correct hormonal imbalances and decrease hormonal symptoms.

Allie talks candidly about what she’s learned about cycle syncing, and how she uses it to optimize her mood, energy levels, workout performance, and relationships. We’re so excited to have our first repeat guest back on the show, McKenna Kirkpatrick, Ceara’s younger sister! Since last year, McKenna graduated college, has been working full time and lives in South Carolina with her fiancé. She loves fashion, traveling and spending time with family.
