Enduring Issues

We are never ever getting back together, like ever. 

Independence movements around the world are casting off old colonial ties.  Using various methods of civil disobedience, freedom fighters are inspiring their nations to rise up and take control of their own countries. 

The Cold War heats up as proxy wars pop up around the globe.  The Soviet Union will be no more after events outside and inside the Soviet Union lead to its collapse. 

WWII has ended and a chill has descended over the globe.  Frosty relations between the United States and the Soviet Union are going to shape the world situation for decades to come.  Cold War Part 1 explores the Cold War in Europe. 

Part 3 of our 3 part series on the world wars.  

How did the end of WWI lead to the start of WWII?  What is the connection between WWI and the Russian Revolution? Why was a mad man like Adolf Hitler able to take control in Germany?  These questions and more will be discussed on this weeks episode of Enduring Issues

The world at war....part 1.  Here we will look at the 4 underlying causes of WWI and the spark that set everything in motion.  New technologies combined with a unique style of warfare will result in causalities never before seen in battle.....death and destruction on an industrial scale.  And an uneasy peace that could lay the foundation for future conflict. 

European nations continue to take over other peoples and change the way they live on this second episode on Imperialism.  Japan shows that Imperialism isn't just for European nations by expanding their influence to the Chinese mainland in a hunt for natural resources.  Be sure to check out parts 1 and 2 before the Imperialism test on Wednesday Nov. 13. 

"Imperialism: When a more powerful nation takes over another and changes the way they live."  Shout out to Newark's Justin Fladd for that simple, yet great definition of Imperialism.  When it comes to the study of Imperialism, the "where" and the "who" may change, but the "how," and most importantly, "why" remain the same.  Stay tuned for part 2 later in the week.
