Joe is a graduate in event production and has worked with artists such as Christina Aguilera, Rudimental, and Mariah Carey. With a wealth of technical experience, he started his own production company called Light Em Up in 2019. Light Em Up specialises in stage lighting, sound, technical production, streaming, and festive lights. They offer design, installation, and supply of creative visual solutions, ranging from architectural light displays to nightclub installations, schools, and festivals.

Gron Koncert: The Touring Festival Managed by 700 Volunteers

In this episode we talk to Jacob Bostrup who is the crew chief for a touring festival called Gron Koncert.

Grøn Koncert (literally "Green Concert") is an annually recurring series of Danish one-day music festivals. What makes this festival incredibly unique is that the whole festival tours to 8 different locations around Denmark. Not only do they tour the whole production but the event is run by 700 volunteers which make up 98% of the staff that work at the event each year.

Danielle's journey commenced with her performances in large ice shows, which ignited a passion for production.

Since graduating with a first-class degree in stage management, Danielle has worked in a diverse range of roles within the field and has served as a stage manager, technician, artist liaison, venue management, and most recently, lead event and hires coordinator.

Since leaving university in 2018, Danielle’s track record includes stage managing three successful theatre tours, a residency at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and a large-scale pantomime for the UK’s leading pantomime company. 

Currently, Danielle operates as a front of house manager and lead events coordinator at an Arts Centre in South Oxfordshire. The venue not only receives high class touring shows but also caters to the needs of numerous local businesses as an ideal events and conference venue. With her wealth of transferable industry knowledge, Danielle plans and manages the operation of such events within the venue, ensuring their execution and success.

Bethany is an Events Management BA (Hons) graduate from Staffordshire University. She has been working in the Events and Visitor Attraction industry for 4 years in a combination of seasonal, permanent and placement roles, both paid and voluntary.

Straight after finishing her Events Management degree, Bethany took a freelance role with Birmingham opening/closing ceremony and was a key member of the team, taking her to work in the logistics department of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. She has recently taken on a new role as Visitor Experience Assistant Manager at the World of Wedgwood.

In this podcast we speak to Bethany about her experiences at university and how she managed to get a paid position at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

We have a great new podcast in which we speak to Sofia Moanora, one of the stage managers at EXPO 2022. What is unique about Sofia's story, she graduated in 2018 and has already worked on a range of mega events. This is a truly inspiring podcast that shows how education has allowed Sofia to take on high profile projects with confidence and maturity.

Sofia is a Stage Management & Live Events Production graduate. She has been working in the events industry for the past 7 years in various freelance and full time positions.   After graduating from University with a BA in Stage Management in 2018, She began working as an events director for care homes before moving to the UAE to begin working as a project coordinator. After working over a number of large scale events and exhibitions she is now an experienced stage and events manager in both the UAE and KSA.

Welcome to the International Institute of Live Events podcast. In this episode we talk about the key findings that have been published following an experiment in Germany that aimed to show how coronavirus travels at indoor events. The overview of the key results from the experiment shows that the total number of contacts lasting several minutes is relatively low during the event and can be considerably reduced through hygiene concepts, and that a higher number of contacts occur during admission to the venue and in the breaks.
