This is one of the most remarkable stories ever told!!! In this episode of the Finding Perspective Podcast, Kapil sat down with Vanessa Jass to have her share her story of growing up in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Vanessa details an 18 month period in her life when she was forced in to the world of human trafficking. She breaks down her experience through this very tough time in her life, and what it felt like to have no hope, as well as coping with the death of a dear friend. Vanessa knew deep inside that this was not going to be her future. Her life took a drastic turn for the better when she had escaped the world of human trafficking, and set her mind to going to law school to achieve her dreams of becoming a successful lawyer!

Thanh Campbell was brought over to Canada in 1975 by a group of Canadian rescuers during the Vietnam War. Thanh was soon adopted by a family who raised him for the rest of his life. As Thanh grew up he began to learn more about his past, and where he came from. He began publicly sharing his story, and his story started to gain some momentum. He thought he was the only one, but he later learned out that there were many other orphans who were also on the same flight. After the story gained worldwide attention, one day Thanh received an email that there was a man in Vietnam who claimed to be his biological father! In this episode Kapil sits down with Thanh and goes deep in to Thanh's life story. Thanh is the author of the book Orphan 32 which details his entire life journey.

We all have a dream, but how far are we willing to go to make our dream a reality? Patrick Bizindavyi moved to Canada from his native land of Burundi in the early 2000's. Back home in Burundi Patrick was a basketball coach, and he also worked in radio. His love for basketball had him relocate to Canada, with the dream of working in radio in Toronto. After many attempts at securing stable work, Patrick found himself without a home, and living on the streets. A civil war had broken out back home, and he had no choice but to stay put in Toronto. In this episode, Kapil sits down with Patrick to learn about his struggles of being homeless and to eventually landing his dream job of broadcasting games for the Toronto Raptors!!

In this episode Kapil sits down with author Jessica Santonato, author of the book "Flip the Script", as she discusses being married to a drug dealer and escaping the marriage after a serious and violent incident. Jessica also talks about finding her purpose buy starting her own storytelling event in Toronto , and launching her own initiative to help men in prisons who are currently incarcerated, as well as working with those in the community who struggle with substance abuse.
