GINSPIRED

by Heather E Wilson

GINSPIRED is a podcast where we talk about and celebrate everything about the wonderful juniper-laced spirit called GIN! There is SO much to talk about when it comes to gin – and we are going to dive into all of it in future episodes. I’ll be speaking to guests from around the world including gin and mixer experts, distilleries, gin fans, and bartenders. In every episode, my guests and I will be sharing what we're drinking as well as fun GINcident stories. I hope you will join me on this GINspired journey.

How a Distillery Down Under got Started During the Pandemic, with special guest Nikki Oesterle

24m · Published 11 Mar 18:00

On today’s episode, I welcome Nikki Oesterle co-founder of Papaiti Gin located in Whanganui, New Zealand. Today, we chat about her journey and experiences of starting a craft gin distillery in New Zealand during the pandemic, where they are in the process, their first gin product, some favourite NZ gins and cocktails, and of course a fun gincident story or two.

About Nikki Oesterle and Papaiti Gin

Nikki is the New Zealand-based co-founder of Papaiti Gin, a craft gin distillery in the making. What started out as a wild, absolutely gin-infused idea a couple of years ago, has blossomed into reality, as Nikki and her partner Adrian have set up their premises in Whanganui, New Zealand and are steps away from their launch. Combining her passion for creating delicious gin using locally sourced botanicals, with her special knack for digital marketing, she has created a visual experience through Papaiti Gin’s social media presence, taking followers along their journey of opening a craft gin distillery.

A Mother's Ruin is a Cornish Blue Flamingo, with special guest Craig Brook-Hewitt, Mother's Ruin 1751

21m · Published 04 Feb 19:00

On today’s episode, I welcome Craig Brook Hewitt – owner and master distiller of Mother’s Ruin 1751 located in Cornwall, England. Today, we chat about how a flamboyant Navy guy created a gin business, their flagship product Cornish Blue Flamingo Gin, their other yummy products, and so much more. We also share some cocktails and stories. Please join us.

Like this episode? Please rate/review our podcast wherever you listen to podcasts.

About Mother's Ruin 1751
Craig Brook-Hewitt founded Mother's Ruin 1751 in July 2018 with his father Ken, who worked for twenty years in the brewing and distilling business and is now their product developer and business partner. His passion for Gin began whilst he was serving in the Royal Navy, and funnily enough ‘grew legs' during the Royal wedding of the Duke of Sussex to his wife the Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan.

He had his sight set to create his very own gin, however, he believed that introducing his Gin Flights and gaining the knowledge and experience of the local gin world first would give him a better understanding of what type of Gin he would like to create, and over time Cornish Blue Flamingo was born!
