These last 2 weeks have been so busy! I met with the Bog Committee and got to observe how they operate and delegate their time and resources. I finished my readings and have been thinking about how I can use this information to spark interest and encourage learning from the general public. Thanks for listening!

This episode captures week 7 and where my mind is at now after alot of exploration and considering the different elements involved in my project. I had a meeting with my host and it left me feeling more confident and clear on my mission and goal with the project. I am excited to build the timeline and set up the interviews to make a journal article to support the timeline and engage with the community! 

Week 5&6 - Bog Committee insights & Planning my end project

This Episode captures the last 2 weeks (Week 5 and 6) of my practicum and what I have been working on. I had a zoom call with the bog committee, where we discussed the importance of tracking water and investing in water monitors to better asses the current environment dynamic.  I found myself thinking how I can bring this back to social justice and in what way is my project contributing to the life of the community. I discuss how I've been struggling to understand what the final product will look like and the lack of structure within my actual delivery expectation. I found these weeks challenging but insightful to the reality of solving real world issues. Thank you for listening! 

Week 4- Visiting the Bog

This week I got to meet my practicum host in person and a few of the other members from the Derby Reach Parks Association. I had a great time walking through the bog and learning about the history and environmental value that the bog has. I have been piecing together the timeline of the bog and the different changes that it has gone through. Hope you enjoy the episode! 

Week 3 - Tips for Creating a High Quality Cover Letter & Resume

This week I learned how to build a unique Cover Letter and Resume to show off my skill set and give me a competitive edge against fellow candidates. After learning several tips and recommendations, we revised our Cover Letters and Resumes - this was such an eye opening experience! This week I have done a lot more reading and began organizing information on the bog and it's history! I hope you like this episode, thank you for listening!

2. Get clear on your own expectations and anticipate others to direct your goal settings

To build your communication profile use the KOLB MODEL-  There are 4 communication styles : Active experimentation, Abstract Conceptualization, Reflective Observation, Concrete Experience  (I was highest on Active Experimentation)

Week 2 - How to Properly and Effectively Communicate

This week we took a deeper dive into how to avoid some of the most common communication barriers, how to loose generic phrases and "buzzwords" . I also share what I have been doing for my Practicum placement with Derby Breach Regional Pars and learning the history of the Fort Langley Bog. I hope you enjoyed this episode!
