#18 - Finding Your WHY in Life

What’s your “why” in life?  What do you think you were put on this Earth to do?  Sometimes finding your “why” is really difficult, but if you keep looking, you’ll find it!  Steve and Becca talk about their “why’s” in life, the struggles to find them, and some ideas to keep them at the front of their minds.  Some good tools to help include: 

1) Be religious about writing a gratitude list;

2) Meditation

3) Breathing exercises

4) Avoid things that bring you down (be honest with yourself!)

5)  Surround yourself with the right people.  You are the sum of the five closest people you surround yourself with. 

6)  Start out your days with Intentions.  Journal to memorialize your thoughts.

7)  Sleep Health

8)  Go after what you’re passionate about

What is your view of music?  To us, it’s an art.  Those that write music are offering up their emotions, their insight, their thoughts and painting a vision for those that listen.   In this episode, Becca and Steve talk about writing music, what inspires them to do that, and what keeps them motivated to continue do to it.  Becca even sings as song for y’all, a new one that we’re putting together very soon for you!

Steve had the privilege  of speaking with his oldest son Ben O'Connell in this episode. (Insert Beaming Dad Pride here)!    Becca couldn't make this episode due to inclement weather.   Ben is a Junior at Geneseo State University in New York with a top notch grade point average, was the Captain and now President of the Crew Club.  Ben gave his perspective on keeping fit, eating healthy, how organization has helped him in school, and how he's staying mentally sharp and positive through these crazy times.  

#14 - Lockdown? Who Cares?!!?

Winter is upon us in the United States.  Often times, it means we’re couped up for a weekend and not able to go anywhere.  Bring in COVID – and the chances of staying home is very much more likely, lately!   Do you go nuts when you can’t go anywhere or do anything?  We do!!  Becca and Steve have some ideas that can keep you busy, productive, and happy during those times.  AND… They’re offering something really cool!  There’s going to be a Virtual Camping Weekend where you can “get away” without getting way!  There are different packages that are being offered, from just watching videos to being actively involved.  ANNNND…. This isn't about resolutions!  It's about looking at yourself and what you accomplished - or didn't - in 2021.  Were you happy with yourself?  Why? What can you do differently?   Knowing where you've been will help you know where you're going - and improve while getting there!  Becca and Steve talk about their own self reflections and plans for 2022, and how they're going to get there!

The Winter Blues can be debilitating!!  It's dark outside earlier than normal.   You're not spending enough time with family.  You're not spending enough time with YOU!  In this episode, we talk about what drives US nuts, and ways around it!  We also throw out some CHALLENGES to YOU to help make this is a better winter than ever.  Post your responses to our challenges in the comment section of your favorite podcast forum, or on on our FACEBOOK PRIVATE GROUP (Ohhhhhhh Yeahhhh)... TRIPS With Steve O and Becca.   So, here are the challenges: 

1) Post your current screen time from your phone.  We're doing it, and we'll post it on Facebook. Don't be applaud.    The goal is to improve that (reduce it) by 25% next month!

2) Make someone happy.  Do a random act of kindness with no expectation of a return.  Tell us what you did!  Just imagine..... If we all did this just ONCE a day... where you made someone smile... How much better would the world be????

3) Nutrition.  Let's face it.  We ALL love the bad stuff.   What if we were to show you a way to enjoy the good stuff that make you feel like you're having the bad stuff????  Check out one of our amazing Nutritionists by emailing him at [email protected].    Tell him what your concerns, hopes, and goals are. He will help you. How do we know?  He helped Steve and his wife.  In fact, he is the one that identified the leading indicators that Steve had some nasty things going on.  He might actually owe his life to him....  Hmmmm.  Think about that....
