7: Let’s Talk Suicide and the 2 Tools I Leaned on That Saved My Life

15m · Published 27 May 05:00

This is a heavy topic but does need to be given space to talk about as Jess will share some staggering statistics on suicide and her own personal experiences.  Though she will share a bit of her journey, she will move your energy and focus to some really useful tools that can be easily implemented and leave you feeling motivated to try. These tools can be used by anyone struggling and not just with suicide.  In fact, even those who are not struggling right now should have these 2 tools in place and it is probably the best time to start putting them together. Below are some support links mentioned in the episode and are encouraged that you share them, along with this episode with everyone.

Something to leave you with for every person that completes suicide, 5 people are hospitalized for self inflicted wounds, another 25-30 people have attempted suicide and another 7-10 people are impacted by the act of someone that completed or attempted suicide. The podcast shares where suicide ranks as leading causes of death in the US and Canada, these are numbers that prove we need to be talking more about this.

Those impacted directly or indirectly need to know it is okay to share and more importantly to actively get support. It should not be a lone venture. We need to break through the stigma of mental health, and it starts with each of us.
