The Importance of Parent's Mental Health

In this episode, I sit down with Mark Williams.  Mark is a published author and a pioneer in the space of paternal mental health.  Mark is an International Campaigner and co-founder of the International Father's Mental Health Day.  In 2012, Mark was awarded "Inspirational Father of the Year" and "Local Hero" at the Pride of Britain Awards.  In 2019,  Mark was awarded the Point of Light award by the UK Prime Minister.  Mark is also an ambassador for Mother's for Mother's Charity.  

In the episode, Mark shares his own story regarding mental health especially after becoming a father.  Mark talks about the work he has done to bring awareness around parental mental health and all the work he continues to do.

Battling Through Adversity with Dr. Erica Harris

Dr. Harris shares her journey of immense adversity about battling leukemia, and then when she came out of that to find out, she needed a lung transplant. After going through more hardship, she went through a divorce. While she was facing all this adversity, she also was being a mother to two little boys. I am deeply inspired by Dr. Harris's story of facing adversity head-on and coming out stronger.

How being a Musician Affected my Mental Health

In this episode, I sit down with an old friend of mine from High School, Jordan Larocque.  Jordan was a member of a Francophone Indie Pop band, Bonjour Brumaire.  Jordan toured for many years and performed live at a lot of shows.  With time, Jordan started to realize he was missing out on time with friends and family, everyone was moving ahead in life and Jordan felt stuck  Being away all the time and not having a stable life started to impact Jordan's mental health.  Ultimately, Jordan left the band and decided to focus on his career.  Today, Jordan is happily married and the proud father of a little boy.  I hope you can get as much as I did from this podcast and understand that even musicians and other artists struggle with mental health, fame and glory only go so far.

How my Anger Transformed Me

In this episode, I sit down with my friend Jeff Berube.  Jeff shares his story about recognizing how he was struggling with regulating his emotions when it came to anger, how he decided to seek help and speak openly about his challenges.  Through group counselling and therapy, Jeff was able to dig deep and find a lot of answers internally.  While Jeff is still pursuing his journey of self-improvement, he has also decided to give back to the community and help other men in similar situations, especially with struggles around mental health.  Jeff is part of a non-profit organization called The Royal Oak Project.  I encourage you to check this program out at royaloakproject.org.  I also applaud Jeff for not only being vulnerable and seeking help but also choosing to give back.
