BONUS EPISODE - Jen & Sarah's winning essay

18m · Published 14 Feb 21:25
Jen Campbell reads the Pelvic Partnership's winning essay. In October last year, Jen Campbell and Sarah Fishburn from the Pelvic Partnership wrote an essay about pgp, the common misconceptions, and lack of support available for this debilitating condition. The essay won the Heather Trickey Essay prize award (joint with Angeline). This prize encourages work reflecting the contribution and commitment of the late Dr Heather Trickey to finding common ground in the field of women’s reproductive health and women’s rights. By bringing together those of differing perspectives, it will develop innovative, practical policy solutions to difficult problems. Heather Trickey was an academic, charity worker, Quaker and poet who worked with energy and enthusiasm to find common ground in the fields of women’s reproductive health and women’s rights. You can read more about the Heather Trickey essay prize here: https://heathertrickeyprize.org/ We hope you enjoy this essay, inspired by Heather's work. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/letstalkaboutpgp/message

6. An Interview with Kelly McLaughlin

19m · Published 24 Mar 19:06
In this episode finally I get to do my first long awaited interview.  Kelly McLaughlin is a wonderful Chiropractor with a focus on family care.  She runs courses on chiropractic in pregnancy and is one of the founders of Hayley and Kelly.  Hayley and Kelly was formed over cocktails, their vision truly offers something for everyone offering a unique mix of parenting support, revival retreats and courses on pregnancy for practitioners.  Kelly kindly agreed to be my first interviewee and during this podcast we chat through two important subjects relating to pelvic girdle pain.  The first is the use of the words common and normal - with an emphasis on what they really mean and how when we change our language we change the meaning.  The second is about the very popular but often understood Webster technique.   I loved doing this interview, so much that I completely forgot to do the outro but luckily Kelly is entirely forgiving and I was going to edit but when I heard it back I quite liked the authenticity.  So I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!  As ever if you enjoy the podcast please follow us rate, review and share with your friends.   I'd love to hear from you so DM me at the Let's Talk About Pelvic Girdle Pain Instagram Page or send me a voicenote  Philippa  To hear more about Hayley and Kelly or attend Kellys practice I have included her links below.   And I hope you enjoy this podcast as much as I did.   Hayley and Kelly; For Revival Retreats, Pregnancy courses for chiropractors or to join the pregnancy forum click here.   Or see Kelly at her practice in Reading here - Dynamic Family Chiropractic  --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/letstalkaboutpgp/message

The pelvis is incredible, and incredibly stable,  but I know if you currently have Pelvic Girdle Pain you might be feeling anything but. So one of the first things I love to share with people is the underlying structure of the pelvis.   For those more visual or kinaesthetic learners (or just if you would like a little more detail) here is the YouTube link of the anatomy of the pelvis I promised you https://youtu.be/yK-8ZwLFarc, and a link to physio-pedia about the pelvis https://www.physio-pedia.com/Piriformis This link is to the incredible charity - The Pelvic Partnership so that if you need it you can get help now - https://pelvicpartnership.org.uk.  The Pelvic Partnership ebook is a fabulous guide and they also have a list of recommended practitioners experienced in the treatment of pelvic girdle pain.   Getting to know your body can be the first step in your healing journey, and I hope this helps.  If you liked this episode please rate, review and follow the podcast. 2. Sinead’s Story

13m · Published 29 Sep 11:37

A Tale of Two (very different) Pregnancies

(Personal Story; Pelvic Girdle Pain; Chiropractic; Choices; Fitness)

I lost my voice shortly before recording this episode. And as I couldn’t guarantee I’d get through a whole episode I’ve chosen to share the wonderful Sinead’s Story of Pelvic Girdle Pain and two very different pregnancies.

This is a tale of two very different pregnancies. And an example of how pelvic girdle pain, when managed well, can differ between pregnancies. Sinead is the first of many inspirations for this podcast, and recorded this so beautifully that despite the fact that we have recorded an interview since I’ve returned to her solo story as it’s so authentically her.

As ever, please feel free to share your stories, connect, and Lets Talk About PGP.
