12 Why We Need Nurture

28m · Published 25 Mar 21:46

Nurture is how we encourage ourselves and our bodies toward health. Nurture is learned. Our early experiences of it shape how we relate as adults. When we feel nurtured we can do courageous, beautiful things. Without it, we lack confidence and connection. Special guest Catherine Morrill. M. Div., LMFT, describes what nurture is, why it's important, and how to have more of it!

Catherine is a Marriage and Family Therapist, Clinical Supervisor, and the Director of the Soul Restoration Project (SRP).  She works with adults, teens and couples seeking healing and growth.  She helps create a safe, collaborative space where concerns can be explored, understood and transformed. Go to www.soulrestorationproject.org to connect with Catherine and find out more about SRP.

09 Moving Through Trauma: Myofascial Release

32m · Published 05 Mar 21:36

Our bodies store physical and emotional trauma. Trauma can be something as little as repetitive bad posture or as big as a car accident or verbal abuse. Whatever the trauma is, it restricts our movement and our joy.  Bryan Hoppe, a physical therapist of 33 years and practitioner of John Barnes’ Myofascial Release Technique shares about helping patients release their trauma through movement to gain their power and joy back.

08 Listening to Your Body

29m · Published 27 Feb 20:58

Our body is communicating to us all the time. It tells us what we need: rest, nourishing food, exercise, nurture... Hearing what our body is communicating and responding compassionately takes practice. Over time, this practice can change our lives. This is part two of last week's conversation with Ana. It's another deep, honest discussion about this meaningful topic.

This is an honest conversation between a thinner woman and a larger woman. Jessica's friend, Ana, shares about her complicated relationship with food and what it's like to live in a larger body in a thin obsessed culture. This is one of my favorite episodes so far. 04 Is Self Care Selfish?

32m · Published 29 Jan 02:38

Who hasn't wondered this at some point? How much time and money do I put into myself? What if that detracts from others?  This episode providers a framework to give you a middle way between being under committed to yourself or over committed yourself.

You'll also be challenged to practice new beliefs and actions to help you create new results.  See questions below from the episode.

Identify an area where you’re not getting the results you want in life.

What unresourceful belief is keeping you stuck?

What more resourceful counter belief do you want to practice trying on?

What will you do differently as a result of that new belief?

Check out @jessicalacycoaching on Instagram and under the post "Is Self Care Selfish" post what new belief you'll be trying on! If you love this show, share your love by writing a review, please :)
