Episode 5: The One About Postpartum Body Image

1h 0m · Published 20 Aug 04:00

Mom bods come in all shapes and sizes. Some are squishier than others. Some are leaner than others. But what they all have in common is the fact that they created, nurtured, and birthed real live human beings!

Being hard on yourself and the way your body looks seems to be a way of the past. Women are starting to make space for, and embrace body positivity. BUT there is also a third perspective - body neutrality. Being body neutral gives you the opportunity to give your body the grace and space it deserves for bringing you to the point it did while not necessarily feeling one way or another about it.

Having a baby changes so many things and our bodies are no exception. In this episode we discuss all of the changes we've personally experienced as our bodies went from pregnant to postpartum and some we've heard about.

What was the biggest change your body went through postpartum? What are some postpartum body myths you've heard of?

Episode 4: The One About Orofacial Myology - oral health & how it relates to sleep, eating, & behavior in children

50m · Published 13 Aug 04:00

Our minds and eyes were opened during our conversation with Seema, an Orofacial Myologist.

Seema comes to the table with a wealth of knowledge and the desire to share how important a clear and healthy airway is for numerous developmental reasons. To name a few, thumb sucking during sleep can be a way to keep the tongue in proper position to keep the airway clear; if babies are snoring, they should be seen by a doctor as it is likely a sign of something being amiss; children who are under-slept can present ADHD symptoms; tongue ties and lip ties are best corrected during infancy but go missed in many cases.

In this episode you will learn about what signs to look for if you, your child, or someone you know could benefit from Orofacial Therapy. Seema also shares what products to stay away from and/or use in order to prevent needing the therapies.

There are many resources available to parents and caregivers in order to help their kids with global development, and as parents we are our child's best advocate. This episode gives you one more tool in your parental toolbox for raising the healthiest and happiest kiddo.

Episode 3: The One With The Catch-Up

57m · Published 06 Aug 04:00

New season. new happenings!

We got together to chat about what is the latest and greatest in our lives. With restrictions lifting, it seems like summer has been super busy and has just flown by. With so much happening these days we needed a moment to catch up. So here's what's up!

Siao gives us an update on Eyla's eczema journey, while Ina is reporting live from an interesting location.

In Canada, most women have the option to take 12 months of maternity leave. With both babes turning one within a month of each other, returning to work is at the forefront of our thoughts.

Finley & Eyla showed us that despite being "pandemic babies" their social skills have not been affected *phew*. And even though we're millennials, we just can't let Gen Z put us in a corner!

What is something beautiful you've had a chance to experience recently?

Episode 29: The One About Fitness Pre & Postpartum

1h 3m · Published 25 Jun 04:00

As moms we are the household snack maker, clothes folder, dish washer, kid trampoline,  boss babe, loving wife, the list goes on. More often than not, we put ourselves last. We put our needs for self-care and self-love at the bottom of the list. One incredible way show our overworked bodies the love they deserve is to build strength and endurance through functional exercise.

Working out can be such a daunting task. Working out can be so overwhelming. Working out can be hard. But working out can also create such a positive self-image, increase in energy, and ability to attend to the demands of being a mom.

Where to begin? How to begin? I don't have a minute to myself let alone an hour to exercise!!!

Our guest, Kellie from Fit Your Life, gives us the best advice on how to actually go about incorporating exercise into our routines as busy moms. She comes from a place of expertise with being a mom of two girls, labor and delivery nurse, fitness coach, and business owner of FYL.

Kellie talks pregnancy fitness and how it sets you up for labor and delivery, where to begin with fitness, and why a focus on pelvic floor health is so important pre and postpartum.

Have you been successful with incorporating exercise into your routine or are you looking to add it to your repertoire? Let us know on our Instagram page:

Two very special guests join the conversation to share their perspective on all things dad.

Cayce and Gurkan - our husbands - don't hold back when they dish out what pandemic parenting looks like to them, how they tolerated us during the pregnancy stage, and what's surprised them along the way.

As first time dads it has all been a huge learning curve. The boys share their experiences in hopes of helping a fellow bro out there that's about to become a dad. Send this episode to your partner ... trust us you'll be thankful you did ;)

We are so grateful for "the dads" and all the love and support they've shown us in this journey - Happy first Father's Day, gents!

We're here to help you de-stress and save you the trouble of taking any more videos of the oddball poopy diapers! In this episode we share all of our newly acquired poop knowledge and spare no details.

Because poop and teething are linked, we also chat about how to relieve your babe's teething discomfort in hopes of everyone getting a decent sleep!

Episode 26: The One With The Doula

1h 22m · Published 04 Jun 04:00

Tia the doula has taken some time to talk to us about all things doula! We find out what exactly is a doula, how they aide parents during labor, and how they can support you in your post-natal journey.

Siao, like many moms who birthed via c-section, is hoping for a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After C-Section) if/when the time comes for a second baby. Tia shares information regarding VBAC and the most recent data, why VBACs seem to be so controversial, and whether there is anything you can do to prepare your body for a VBAC.

The conversation was flowing and Tia was doing her thing - we just couldn't limit it to one hour!

Episode 25: The One About Renos, Moving, and TV Shows

1h 7m · Published 28 May 04:00

As if being a new mom isn't stressful enough, throw in renos and moving to spice things up!

Sometimes life throws extra curve balls such as needing to renovate a home (or 2 in Siao's case) or needing to move. While it is incredibly challenging there is always a silver lining and always a learn and grow opportunity from every experience. Siao shares how she's been coping with the double reno, how she's made adaptations for Eyla during this challenging time, and of course sleep is brought up a time or two.

But ... life isn't all about learning and growing. Sometimes you just need a good show to binge when you have a moment to yourself. We share our latest show obsessions - one of us is team Crishelle while the other is team Christine.
