ACL Reconstruction with Dr. Brian Etier

On this episode JD Boudreaux speaks with Dr. Brian Etier. Dr. Etier is a native of Lafayette, LA and is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with Lafayette General Orthopedic Center. He specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder as well as open shoulder replacements. He also belongs to multiple professional organizations, has authored or contributed to eight published peer-reviewed articles, and presented to colleagues at various orthopedic meetings. In this episode, Dr. Etier discusses his career path that led him back to his hometown of Lafayette as well as the various surgical options and management of one of the most common injuries seen in athletics, ACL tears.

The Benefits of Dry Needling

On this episode JD Boudreaux speaks with Cole Thompson. Cole began his journey with MTS during his undergraduate career at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he graduated with his Bachelor of Science focusing in Kinesiology. He continued his studies at the University of St. Augustine in St. Augustine, Florida where he graduated with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in December 2015. While at U.S.A, Cole achieved the Stanley V. Paris and Catherine E. Patla Award for Excellence in Manual Therapy. He has trained in evaluation and treatment of the foot/ankle for custom orthotic fabrication and continued his education completing coursework in Functional Dry Needling. In this episode, Cole discusses the benefits of dry needling in his patient population and the opportunity for individuals to seek physical therapy services without a referral.

On this episode JD Boudreaux speaks with Mark Hocke. Mark Hocke is in his third year as Head Strength and Conditioning/Associate Head Coach of the Ragin' Cajuns Football team after successful stints at Alabama, Georgia, Florida State and Texas A&M. While at Alabama, Hocke helped train over 35 players that signed NFL contracts, including 10 first-round NFL Draft picks. Hocke’s first coaching job was at Jesuit High School in New Orleans, La., where he served as a position coach and oversaw the team’s strength and conditioning from 2003-2008. His certifications include CSCCC Certified, FMS Screen Certified as well as USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach Certified. A native of New Orleans, La., Hocke earned his bachelor’s degree in business from the University of New Orleans in 2008. 

In this episode, Mark discusses the training of elite level athletes, the importance of recovery during training, and preparing the athlete for life after their career.
