Over 30 years ago, a 52-year-old woman abandoned her dead newborn in a wooded area and was sentenced to life in prison.

According to court records, Gail Ritchey was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 15 years on May 24. Almost three years have passed since her case was filed. Ritchey w

On June 6, 2019, she was indicted for aggravated murder and murder for the death of her newborn child, but her case was repeatedly rescheduled.

She was found guilty of murder but acquitted of aggravated murder on April 5, 2022.

The remains of the newborn, later dubbed "Geauga's Child," were found attacked by animals in the woods on March 25, 1993, according to WJW-TV. At the time, the Cuyahoga County Coroner's Office determined that the baby boy was born alive, but his cause of death could not be determined.

To find her mother, detectives used a DNA database, and a large family tree eventually pointed to Ritchey.

During her arrest, Geauga County Sheriff Scott Hildenbrand told WJW Ritchey that she admitted to delivering the child, placing him in a trash bag and leaving him in a wooded area. She also confessed to committing a similar crime two years prior.

Geauga's Child was born to Ritchey at 22 years of age, according to WJW. According to reports, she gave birth while seated on the toilet, then placed him in a bag.

"I took the bag out of the trunk, laid it in the woods, and I don't remember it making any noise." she said.

During the sentencing hearing, Judge David Ondrey stated, "You have tossed away two infants because you could not face your problems and fears as a young woman and find a proper resolution. That is indeed monstrous behavior and you deserve this long prison term."

A 30-year-old woman was arrested for shooting and killing her husband just days after their marriage.

On April 25, at 9:58 p.m., a woman called Denton Police to report her husband had been shot in the 1100 block of East Sherman Drive. According to another report, a pickup truck crashed into a residential yard. The officers found a man unconscious in the driver's seat of the truck when they arrived.

Police identified the victim as Jeffrey McBride, who was transported to the hospital with an abdominal gunshot wound. As a result of his injuries, he later died.

McBride's wife, Amber Rosales, reportedly told police McBride stopped on East Sherman Drive to "speak to a male." She claimed the man shot McBride, threw the gun in the car, and fled. Police determined Rosales' statements were inconsistent on multiple occasions during their investigation and concluded she was the only person with McBride at the time of his death.

Rosales and McBride were married only four days before his death, according to the Denton Record-Chronicle. She reportedly first said the gun used to kill her husband was a pistol, but then changed it to a revolver, according to court documents quoted by the Denton Record-Chronicle.

As a result of struggling for the gun, Rosales said she had scratches on her body and a swollen finger.

Denton Record-Chronicle reports surveillance footage shows the truck driving normally before crashing into the yard on East Sherman Drive. No one ran away from the scene either.

As stated in the affidavit, "the victim sustained a single gunshot injury to his right side, and Rosales was the only person who could have fired the weapon, not an unknown male who was alleged by Rosales to have approached the stopped vehicle and fired the fatal shot."

Rosales was convicted of aggravated assault in 2017 and pleaded guilty to false reporting of sexual battery against a law enforcement officer in 2021, according to the Denton Record-Chronicle. Rosales abused Jeffrey McBride, according to Jeffrey's sister, Katy McBride.

Rosales was arrested Wednesday, May 25, and is being held on $500,000 bail at the City of Denton Jail.

This week, a 71-year-old woman found guilty of murdering her husband in 2018 after writing a blog post titled "How to Murder Your Husband."

According to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office, Nancy Crampton Brophy was convicted of second-degree murder with a firearm on Wednesday, May 25. The trial began in April as prosecutors argued she shot her husband twice on June 2, 2018, outside his workplace at the Oregon Culinary Institute.

Her husband, Daniel Brophy, arrived at the scene before her according to surveillance footage. She is seen leaving the Oregon Culinary Institute shortly after he was shot.

Police were called to the scene after Brophy's co-workers found his body. Using the same vehicle, Crampton Brophy returned to the scene. Her husband was killed at home, according to law enforcement officials.

Crampton Brophy purchased a Glock 9 mm gun before her husband's shooting, and three days after he died, she tried to collect his life insurance policy.

Brophy was shot in the heart, according to KOIN-TV. Gun parts from the shooting, however, were not found by investigators. In order to pay off some credit card debt and their mortgage, the couple recently took out $35,000 from his 401K.

Crampton Brophy reportedly claimed she had a "memory hole" on the day of her husband's death during her trial. It may have been possible for her to drive to the Culinary Institute in her minivan in order to write, but she is unable to recall the exact details. A psychologist testified that she did not find Crampton Brophy to be a psychopath after conducting tests on her.

According to KOIN, she testified, "I know I did not go into the building because I know I did not kill Dan."

According to Brophy's son, the verdict gives the family a sense of closure about what happened because they can now move forward and always remember their father.

As of June 9, Crampton Brophy is scheduled to be sentenced by the District Attorney's Office.

A pastor in Indiana attempted to tell his congregation about adultery he'd committed 20 years ago, but his congregation turned on him when the woman called him out -- revealing she was 16 at the time.

New Life Christian Church pastor John Lowe announced his resignation Sunday after confessing to cheating on his wife with one other person many years ago. The congregation applauded and forgave Lowe, then a woman and her husband approached the altar.

While Lowe had sex with this woman on the church office floor, she claimed she was just 16 at the time.

Indiana's consent age is 16.

While the congregation watched, the woman continued, telling Pastor Lowe that the affair went on for nine years.

The audience began shouting at Lowe after the woman and her husband left the stage, and he eventually confessed, saying the woman was only 16 when he had an affair with her.

According to a local report, the county prosecutor has opened an investigation.
