Brigitte Shipman is the host and creator of this podcast and it has been inspired by her son Joseph who has been living with autism for the last 31 years. Together, Brigitte and Joseph hope to offer mothers of autistic children hope for the future. They will be sharing what they have learned in their journey as well as have expert guests on the show to give you knowledge, resources, insights, and inspiration.

Grief Series Ep. 3: God gives special needs children to parents who are special with Stella Spanakos
1h 7m · PublishedStella Spanakos is the founder of the nonprofit organization the Nicholas Center and three social enterprises called Spectrum Designs, Spectrum Bakes, and Spectrum Suds, where 60% of the staff are individuals with Autism.
Stella created the Nicholas Center to offer life-skills programming, vocational skills training, and supported employment to her son Nicholas and other adults on the spectrum like him because the needs of autistic adults were not being met.
Stella and I talk about the expansion and growth that the Nicholas Center and the three enterprises have seen in recent years and how innovative programs are meeting the needs of autistic adults and the local communities in New York State.
Stella shares how she experienced grief at the beginning of the autism parenting journey and the pivotal moment that snapped her out of her self-pity so she could move forward to help her son Nicholas.
