Beers and Beards Episode 152: Belleflower Finch and Thistle

1h 14m · Published 02 May 14:55

We're back after a short hiatus and David celebrates by drinking Belleflower Finch and Thistle.

David fell in love with Belleflower Brewing when he visited Portland, Maine, and was excited to see that they now distribute to Ohio. Belleflower Finch and Thistle is a dry hopped New England IPA, pouring pale golden hazy with aromas of big papaya, kiwi, pineapple, and stone fruit that will make you long for summer. The strong pale ale opens with flavors of grapefruit and other tropical citrus and stone fruit for a crispy taste that finishes with some light malt sweetness.

We chat about Gary's recent trips and Abby even makes a cameo. We also discuss the following news stories:

Beers and Beards Epiosde 149: Great Lakes ' Conway’s Irish Ale' & Bourbon Lemonade

1h 16m · Published 06 Mar 18:27

We survived the Facebook outage of 2024. That means go find us and like the page. This week we gear up and look ahead to St. Patrick's Day. David gets that good red beer in Conway’s Irish Ale. It takes him back to after prom getting a sixer of some Killians.

In a plot twist, Gary has Karrikin's Bourbon Lemonade. Should have been refreshing but you'll just have to hear him tell you how it is.

A new top bourbon was crowned by Barleycorn, whatever that is. Is it legit?

We shoot the breeze fill in the rest of the time with nonsense.

Enjoy

Beers and Beards Episode 148: Perennial Artisan Ales "ESB"

1h 17m · Published 28 Feb 14:23

Welcome back to the nonsense. This week David A. McKinney tries a new beer, a weird offering maybe, in Perennial Artisan Ales , ESB. Bitter to the brim or something like that.

Gary casually sips and old favorite in Basil Hayden Subtle Smoke and pontificates on how he feels about the current state of bourbon.

Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg finally come out with a RTD version of Gin and Juice. Turns out that David was just a mere toddler when that banger dropped on the world.

Tennessee, which may in fact be good for nothing, is trying to ban cold beer sales. W T F

We love you all.

Tripping Animals Keagan is Light bodied, subtle biscuits & honey under some floral hops. Clean & easy drinking, minimal lacing, virtually zero retention. The beer is also a collaboration with Center for Great Apes.

Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 is made with the finest grains, pristine water from the Cave Spring Hollow, and mellowed drop-by-drop through sugar maple charcoal. We proudly age in new, handcrafted white oak barrels, the same way we’ve been doing for more than 150 years.

1h 6m · Published 19 Jan 20:41

Hi. All of you, hello. This week is chill. Chill with us.

Dry January rolls on and David halted his cravings this week with Sierra Nevada 's Trail Pass Golden. It didn't get him drunk but it might have settled his taste for some beer.

Gary just had his go to in Old Forester, the flagship bottle that won't break the bank but will have you feeling great.

A distillery coming to Eastern KY? A big 144 million dollar investment for the spirits from Eastern Light Distilling gets us excited for what's to come.

Due date, brew date! Enjoy some NA beer for 9 months while waiting on your newborn. Columbian fighters turn brewers, more money on distilleries, Drizzly goes bye-bye.

All that and a bag of chips this week. Enjoy

Beers and Beards Episode 144 - KY 10 & Urban Artifact -NA Seedless - Mango & Strawberry

1h 14m · Published 15 Jan 20:40

Hey its us. Back in 2024 approaching our 4 year anniversary. We are still friends. Very nice.

David is booze free for Dry January but is having some Urban Artifact NA selections. Fruity and refreshing on a cold night. Urban Artifact can't miss and these are proof.

Gary has a wheated bourbon from Owensboro, strangely similar to last episodes, down the the distillery number. Anyway, KY 10 is on tap. It's ok. It'll get you drunk.

Football talk, strange spirt releases and more this week.

We love you. Tell your friends about us.

1h 15m · Published 21 Dec 18:35

Drink with us this week to get ready for those holiday parties, dinners or whatever reason you can think of.

David goes on a journey to taste test some local light lagers. Four of them to be exact. If you wonder what happened to the ending of the show we are gonna blame it on his chugging of said beers.

Gary goes with DSP-KY-10 issued Green River Wheated Bourbon from Owensboro. It'll warm you up in these cold times.

Thanks to everyone for making this an amazing year!
