The Mass Timber Institute was first conceptualized when the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry approached Dr. Anne Koven at the University of Toronto and asked her and Professor Robert Wright to establish a Mass Timber Institute, which was launched in 2018.

Martin Young possesses a broad knowledge of design and cultural aesthetics. His professional experience in architecture, interior architecture, and design include four years in The Netherlands at such noted offices asMVRDVandOTH architecten.

Rounding out his background he did a stint with Dutch antique dealer Anne Paul Brinkman. In San Francisco, in addition to The Wiseman Group, he worked forSteven Volpe Design.

Martin earned a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley and a Masters in Architecture from Columbia University in New York City. This unique mix of vocation, location, and education can be seen throughout his projects.

A first generation Indian-American, Pooja grew up in the suburbs of Columbus, Ohio, and Chicago, Illinois. She spent the last five years at henna Barry Eddy architects, where she served as the lead sustainability architect for the lead gold certified Concourse E extension to Portland international airport, serving on the sustainability committee and DEI committee, as well as recruiting, managing, and mentoring entrance pools.
