The Emotional River, a flow within you...

Your emotions are very much like a river flowing, their job is to flow through you and just like in a river when there is an obstacle they will try to go around but when they can’t they will build up.

This build up can then feel for you like you are drowning under the weight of your emotions, like a river that overflows and the riverbanks start to give way.

The riverbank giving way within you can look and feel like, overwhelm, high stress levels and debilitating anxiety.

Unlike the river you can stand up and what felt like you were drowning will now feel manageable, water that you are now just wading in.

Standing up can come in a number of different ways...

EFT Casestudy | Healing a Limiting Belief | "I have to be Independent"

"Independence can be a learned behaviour"

In a previous episode “Is Your Independence a Trauma Response?” I shared that “Experiencing trauma can cause you to do whatever you need to, to feel safe and sometimes that includes shutting yourself off, building that wall and the only person you rely on is YOU.”

An extension to that is also that independence can be a learned behaviour, as children we are exposed to beliefs from other people and we then take them on as our own.

They then become what we believe to be our truth…

Some examples of limiting beliefs around independence are:

*Relying on others can lead to disappointment
*Asking for help shows your weaknesses
*Doing things for yourself shows such strength
*Nothing is free in this life
*If you want something done properly, you have to do it yourself

Do any of these statements sound familiar to you?

As we unpack these beliefs you may have taken on from those you trusted growing up…

We can see how they can be impacting on your life today, stopping you from allowing others into your heart and world.

Not all is lost, as you bring them into your awareness, you empower yourself to heal and release limiting beliefs that are not yours.

How to Meditate with a Busy Mind

"I Just Can't Meditate" - Every New Meditator...

Have you ever said “I just can’t meditate, my mind won’t stop”?

Don’t worry I’ve got your back, so many of my clients have said this to me, when I set them homework of meditating every day. 

The look of fear on their face is priceless, like I have asked them to give me their first born child. 

Don’t worry I will never ask for your first born child, I have two teenagers and my hands are already full, with as much teenage attitude as I can take…

You lay down, close your eyes and all of a sudden your mind is racing with thoughts like:

  • I haven’t done the washing…
  • the ironing piling up on the back of the couch,
  • Hang on a second, did I leave the stove on, oh no it’s okay I haven’t cooked dinner yet…
  • Oh man I really should be cooking dinner, instead of lying here trying to meditate,
  • Geez I am so bad at this meditating thing, I can’t even stop thinking.
