155 - Growing pains in redefining relationship roles

1h 7m · Growing Steady | Intentional Creative Business Podcast · 09 Feb 14:00

We know relationships can often be positioned as “perfect” on social media, but we all know that’s not the truth. In fact, constantly seeing a “perfect” relationship can be harmful in that it doesn’t normalize the reality that we all often are experiencing. Relationships are wonderful, but they can also be difficult as we’re two humans trying to operate in the world with unique brains and (potentially) opposite ways of thinking/feeling minute to minute.

In this episode, we share the “problem” we’ve run into and the five solutions we’re using to work through it. We are NOT relationship therapists, or coaches, we’re just two normal people who think relationships should be shared more authentically more often!

203 - Our short-form content plan for Teachery (TikTok, Reels, YouTube Shorts)

Here we go, folks! We’re back on the short-form video creation train and this week we’re sharing our plan of action for Teachery. We’ve been off social media for 2.5 years, so this is quite the journey!

If you missed last week’s episode, we’re embarking on a 5-week content extravaganza 😂 for our two businesses. This week is the official first week and we’re focusing solely on trying to create 10 pieces of 60-second video content to be shared on Teachery’s TikTok, YouTube, and IG account.

What does creating social content initially feel like? Who is doing what? What content keywords and strategies are we focusing on? All of that is tackled in this episode.

Important note: We are NOT posting this content just yet. We want to create a nice little backlog of content to have ready to post in a month-ish. We also want to get a feel for what the creation process is like and what formats/formulas of content work best for our skillsets.

Next week, we’ll update you with how this week went and then we’ll move on to the next content bucket.

202 - Getting back on social media (steal our content plan)

Bring on the 5-week content EXTRAVAGANZAAAA! We are getting back in the content creation saddle for the first time in almost 3 years. We’ve only been creating “nurture” content for the entirety of our WAIM business and that’s about to change!

This week, we’re kicking off a big content creation project for both WAIM and Teachery. Now, Teachery is a bit easier because it’s has NEVER had content created for it (not a single article, social post, etc). But, before we just start creating content willy-nilly, we wanted to come up with a framework to make sure we’re creating the right content for the right purpose. Is our content just nurturing an existing audience? Or is our content discoverable and helping us grow our audience?

Enter our… Content Salad MATRIX. We cover the two different formats of content (Long and Short) and the two different types of content (Find and Nurture). From there, we share our plan for the next 5 weeks and what type of content goes where.

We’ll fully acknowledge there is a lot to unpack in this episode and that we are embarking on a big content project, but hey, wouldn’t it be boring if we didn’t swing for the fences a bit??

Hope you enjoy it!

201 - We fell short of our launch goals. What did we learn?

We LOVE a launch recap episode! And as two people who value transparency and honesty in the online business world, we hope you appreciate this one because our latest launch (Spring 2024) didn’t quite hit the mark.

Now, we want to be 100% clear: We are not upset by a 6-figure launch. There is nothing to complain about or shed a tear about. However, there is a reality to reaching a certain level of revenue with our launches and then not hitting that same level after raising our price (for the first time in 5 years).

We hope you get a few takeaways from this episode if you’ve had a lackluster launch and see it the same way we do; as an opportunity to improve and create a new baseline for the future!

200 - Untold stories!

Join us this week as we celebrate episode #200 of this podcast by sharing a few untold (maybe just lesser known?) stories from our entrepreneurial pasts. We each picked a few stories for the other to share without telling them ahead of time — fun!

In some ways it feels like we’ve recorded 200+ episodes of this podcast, but in other ways, it kind of feels like we’re just getting started. Whether you are listening to your first episode or have been with us since the start, we appreciate you so much 💖💖.

⭐️ If you were thinking of getting us flowers, chocolates, or a delicious batch of cinnamon rolls to celebrate this milestone, we’d gladly accept a rating and review on whatever podcast player you use!

Here’s to 200 more eps 👩🏻‍🦰👨🏻‍🦲👋.

199 - The truth about working with your spouse

We’ve been working together in some capacity for almost 15 years! In that time, we’ve learned how to communicate, navigate each other’s emotions, but we still run into difficult moments like we did this week.

In this episode, we want to share our experience as a couple who works together (on two businesses!) but also how you can apply some of our lessons to running your own business, whether you have a partner or work with freelancers (or just on your own!)

We’re going to talk about the importance of having more discussions that you think you need, how to navigate perfectionism (over and over again), communicating during rough patches, and recommitting to your values.
