On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to David, Marcus, Johan and Viking from Solence live at Aftershock, in Sacramento, California.
After touching on some of the issues they suffer with their name, they go on to describe what their music is like for those who have not heard it. They describe it as if you want to have fun and escape whatever is happening in your life, then they are there for you. They’re all about positivity and having a good time.
The guys then talk about playing Aftershock and what it is like playing such a big festival, especially as they released their first album a month into the pandemic, meaning they haven’t been able to tour yet. They go on to discuss what it’s been like in the music business so far, and how they’ve been finding touring the States.
The guys touch on some cultures around the world from Scandinavia to Florida to Australia, before, the guys bring up a message they want to share, saying they’re really enjoying these moments with meeting people, as well as to check out the new single called Blood Sweat and Tears which is releasing in October.

On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Griffin Taylor of Vended live at Aftershock, in Sacramento, California.
Pipeman says it took him an hour and 30 minutes to get into the venue today and it was because so many people wanted to go see Vended who were playing early in the day, in the scorching heat.
Pipeman asks Griffin about their journey so far. Griffin explains that he didn’t know if he wanted to be a musician or not for a long time, and it was actually a talent show which his friend asked him to do which pushed him in the direction of a musician. Griffin also touches on getting hate as they have grown and how he has learnt to deal with it compared to how he did before.
Griffin also touches on some of the anger and anxiety he experienced before, which he managed to narrow down to smoking weed, which is something that runs in his family, so he stopped smoking and is doing better. Pipeman and Griffin then proceed to nerd out about some of their favourite video games and video game systems.
Pipeman asks Griffin about him coming to the realisation that he wanted to do music, noting that he is clearly committed to it, despite being hesitant at first. Griffin explains that he started accepting that it was meant to be like this and that music was his therapy.

On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks Band-Maid live at Aftershock, in Sacramento, California.
She explains that in Japan she used to work in a Maid Café serving drinks to male customers in a maid costume, but also loving heavy metal music, she decided to combine them both and create music inspired by both things.
Speaking about their new EP, it is only and instrumental album which is something they have never done before, so it was challenging for them but they enjoyed it and believe their fans will enjoy it too. She says her fans would love the instrumentals so they decided to give the fans a project like that.
Pipeman asks about the costumes which are related to their personalities, one being a traditional native Japanese costume, another with a longer skirt and designed for somewhere more quiet, the drummer’s is more mobile so she can move and now shows her belly because she loves food, and finally the other lead singer is black an white to be the opposite to the other lead singer.

On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Ash Costello from New Year’s Day live at Aftershock, in Sacramento, California.
The first thing Pipeman talks about is how people had been saying that a girl can’t perform Hostile but they rocked it. Ash said she was advised not to do it because of the potential for comments but they feed off the hate and just want to do it more when that happens.
New Year’s Day is currently on tour and have just wrapped a tour with Hailstorm who are also performing at Aftershock. They have a small run of Headline shows coming up before returning home to finish off the album.
Touching on the Pandemic, Ash says she thinks the music industry has taken it the hardest with how long it took to get back on its feet, but they’re so happy to be back playing live music, but sad their run is nearly over already.
Finally, Ash pleads with you to call your local radio station and ask them to play the new single which has just come out and will be on their upcoming album. Pipeman and the band speak about how awesome it was in Vegas for the Metal Blade 40th Anniversary. The band talk about how it was such an honor to play that because it’s such an iconic label. Pipeman and the band discuss how record artwork has kind of died out over the years and they reminisce on the experience of shopping for a record and analyzing the artwork before deciding on which you were going to buy. The band speak about one of their favorite memories being the first ever download festival they performed at in England in 2012, which was only their 5th show as a band. The band mention how it was a super miserable day, just raining and cloudy the while day but when they got on stage, within three songs the sun had come out through the clouds and the crowd went nuts and it just really make all the hairs on their body stand up.
