On the 108th episode of the Seattle Foodie Podcast, we're chatting with Seattle Food Instagrammer, Garrett Lee (@illeatists). Garrett is known for his behind the scenes videos as he goes into kitchens and documents the creation of your favorite dishes. He's also been working on several pop-ups, so stay tuned for those. Listen in as we talk with Garrett about what it's like to film with cooks, what it's like to run a pop-up, and where he likes to dine in the Seattle area. 

In addition, Monica and Nelson take a ferry ride out to Bainbridge Island to check out Ba Sa Restaurant. They are doing amazing Modern Vietnamese cuisine using locally sourced ingredients and we tell you all about our experience. 

As for what we ate this week, Nelson checked out the food truck, El Maestro Del Taco, for tacos, picked up a pizza from Pagliacci's, ate sourdough donuts on Bainbridge Island with Monica and friends at Pleasant Beach Donuts, and picked up Banh Mi's from Saigon Deli. 

Meanwhile, Monica baked cookies using Jasmin Bell Smith's cookie recipe from Bells Pastries, grabbed coffee from Dutch Bros., and made another visit to Don Lucho's.

Episode 107 - It's our 2 Year Anniversary!

On the 107th episode of the Seattle Foodie Podcast, we celebrate our 2 Year Anniversary! That's right, our show turns 2 years old and we can't thank you enough for all the support these past two years! On this episode, we look back and tell you our Top 10 most favorite meals and dishes we've eaten these together these past two years. To hear what we've chosen as our favorites, tune in to this week's show!

In addition, Monica and Nelson recap the week, which included a sneak preview of the Macadons and Coffeeholic pop-up this weekend, a visit to Red Arrow Coffee in Ballard, and received a delivery of madeleines from @bobaeggs.

As for what they ate, Nelson had gyros and shawarma at Aladdin Gyros, visited Yifang for boba, and joined Monica and friends in U-Village at Joey's and Ba Bar for Wings and Imperial Rolls.

Meanwhile, Monica checked out Kauai Family Restaurant, participated in a Yelp Washington Event with Ellenos Greek Yogurt, attended a virtual event with the American Lamb Board and Cafe Juanita, and checked out her usual spots at SuSu, Chebogz, and Kizuki Ramen.

On the 106th episode of the Seattle Foodie Podcast, we're talking with Jack Timmons, owner of Jack's BBQ. Jack has been a fan favorite in Seattle with his Texas BBQ. Listen in as he chats with us about how he got started into central Texas BBQ and we also discuss the newest Jack's BBQ location in Algona set to open in October.

In addition, Monica and Nelson recap a week that included a review of the Charlotte Restaurant and Lounge located inside the Lotte Hotel. They also visited the Market Fishmonger in Edmonds for the Hans Chicken Rice Pop-up. 

As for what they ate this week, Nelson wanted to check out the hype and tried the Spicy Chicken McNuggets and Travis Scott Meal from McDonald's. He also went to the last New Wave Summers event of the season at Pho Bac and made a visit to Ono Poke while in Edmonds.

Meanwhile, Monica had a delivery from Sweet Nothings and More, checked out the Neku Jiru Pop-Up at Opus Co., and visited Zaika, the Tat's Deli Food Truck, Ironsteak, and TP Tea to round out the week.

On the 105th episode of the Seattle Foodie Podcast, we sit down with professional studio food photographer and recipe developer, Shiela Cruz (@flavourfilled). Shiela's food photography wows us all with her storytelling and "mood" photography style seen in many food magazines and prints. She is one of the best at what she does in the Seattle area and we had the opportunity to talk to her about her photography style, tips for how you can create your own home studio yourself, and how she got into recipe development. For all you food photographers, you want to tune in to this one!

In addition, Monica and Nelson recap the week starting with Washington Cider Week presented by the NW Cider Association currently occurring through September 20th. They each received cider from Republic of Cider in the Industrial District and Snack Packs from BB6 Taiwanese Pop Up. During the week, Juliana Bakery also delivered them each artisanal cookies and pastries. 

As for what they ate this week, Nelson had a sneak preview of the Charlotte Restaurant located inside the Lotte Hotel set to open on September 24th. Meanwhile, Monica took the week off from work and visited multiple locations. She checked out the Fremont Sunday Market, went on a food crawl in the U-District visiting Ba Bar, Rachel's Ginger Beer, BB.Q Chicken, and Yifang. She also stopped by the Sugar + Spoon Cookie Dough truck for a DIY Pack and picked up tamales from Frelard Tamales. Finally, she capped off the week with a grocery delivery from MilkRun.

You might have seen Macadons at pop-ups, restaurants, and specialty stores as their unique Macarons, Ice Cream Macarons, and Ice Cream are popular all over Seattle. Listen in as Michael tells you about Macadons's unique story of how they got started and what's in store for the future of Macadons. 

In addition, Monica and Nelson announce the winners of last week's Little Prague Bakery & Deli Giveaway. 

They also ate quite a bit of food over the past week and through the Labor Day weekend. Nelson picked up Seattle Pops from their Back to School Pop-Up. ate at Mr. Gyros in Wallingford, stopped by BB.Q Chicken in the U-District, and grabbed takeout at Haiku Sushi and Seafood Buffet. Over the weekend, he also checked out the Pho Bac and Mangosteen New Wave Summers Pop-up, drank boba at the newly opened TP Tea, and ate Chungchun Rice Dogs. Finally, he had lunch at Eden Hill Provisions with friends and checked out the new trailer for Mike's Shave Ice at Sam Choy's Poke to the Max. 

Meanwhile, Monica had beer delivered via Tavour, checked out Don Lucho's new restaurant, grabbed bagels at Porkchop and Co., picked up dishes from Pop Pop Thai, and got brunch from Gather Kitchen.

Nelson visited Yummy Meats & Deli in Renton, had happy hour at Tamari Bar, lunch at Seattle Fish Guys with friends, celebrated the 16th anniversary of Nijo Sushi and Grill with Chef Danna Hwang, picked up pizza from Pagliacci, and got drinks from Rabbit Rabbit Tea and Yomie's Rice and Yogurt.

Meanwhile, Monica visited multiple spots including getting a scoop from Laina's Ice Cream, ordering a feast from Little Ting's, getting kathi rolls from Spice Walaa, eating chicken from Mangosteen and Ezell's, and checking out Bobae for the Macadons pop-up. She also had Gourmondo's delivered to her home as she tried out their Stock the Fridge program.

In addition, Monica and Nelson tell you all the fun places they ate last week. Nelson had beers at Formula Brewing in Issaquah, made a quick run to Chinatown to Dim Sum King, Harbor City, and 663 Bistro, and had morning smoothies at Retreat. He also went to the Shell Station in Beacon Hill for some catfish, picked up his BBQ kit from Jack's BBQ for the Smoked Meats Master Class, and went to Woodinville to Bobae for a sneak peek of the Bobae X Macadons Macarons collaboration. 

Meanwhile, Monica took advantage of Tutta Bella's Buy 3 get 1 free pizza deal, devoured a slice of cake from Cakes of Paradise, and had Dynamite Chicken at the Ethan Stowell pop-up. Also, she went on a massive food crawl in Renton over the weekend visiting Boon Boona, O'Cha Thai Kitchen and Bar, Melrose Grill, Dock and Drink at the Hyatt Lake Washington, Blossom, Fit Bar Cafe, and Chuck's Donuts. Now that's a lot of eating!

You probably have seen his artwork all around Seattle Restaurants via his menu art and through his murals all around Seattle. His #staystrong Seattle works on boards in business storefronts throughout the city can be found all over since the beginning of the shutdown. Tune in as we discuss how he got started, the whole team behind Dozfy, his latest projects, and what's in store for the upcoming future. 

Also on the show, they Monica and Nelson talk about Jack's BBQ's upcoming Online Training Class on Saturday, August 22nd. Learn how to trim and smoke meats just the way Jack's BBQ does it. He also picked up takeout from Ocha Kitchen and Bar.  

Meanwhile, Monica checked out the Brunchbox Pop-up operating out of Opus Co., visited Nutty Squirrel in Magnolia, ate lunch at Zoey's Fried Chicken Sandwiches and King Noodle, and got takeout from Kona Kitchen in Maple Leaf.

Listen in as Suzana tells you how both these restaurants and cafes got its start and how the community of Lower Queen Anne is so special to Lazy Susan and Citizen Cafe. Meanwhile, Monica had an early dinner at Citizen Cafe and Campire, sampled strawberry cheesecake ice cream bars from @annie_eatsfood, visited Oh Bear Cafe and Timeless Tea, had a sneak peak with Intentionalist at the soon to be opened Local Tide, and a mini food crawl with her son around Pike Place Market.
