60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: Endless Possibilities for Your Origin Story - Let's Work Together

3m · Published 08 May 08:00

Hello to you listening in Snohomish, Washington!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more) for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga.

What problems do I solve? I help women discover, shape and share their Origin Story - the story of how they got from There to Here - so they can connect with, engage, and inspire their audience to action.

Imagine the endless possibilities to inspire, influence, and persuade with your origin story: branding, marketing, public speaking, keynotes, presentations, podcast interviews, pitching your business or ideas to investors or prospects, and more!

When you showcase your origin story you reveal:

• Who you are; what you want people to know about the genuine you;

• What you stand for, your reasons for your goals and ideas; and,

• How your vision for what could be connects with the values of the people you’re speaking to.

How do I work with you? With personalized one-on-one consulting, self-guided learning, and production assistance I help you say what you mean and mean what you say so that you are seen, heard, understood, and listened to. For example:

"Perhaps you are a mid-career professional or business owner looking to build greater visibility and leadership. I help experienced women - like yourself - discover their Who as well as their Why, clarify their ideas, and amplify their messages in their own voice with the spirit of who they are."

"This might be the moment to recreate your business or personal narrative, to rediscover your talents and write your next chapter. Working together we’ll stimulate deep self-reflection and bold action so you confidently, deliberately become who you aspire to be."

"Picture your origin story shaping your marketing, your ideas transforming into powerful presentations, your voice resonating with conviction as you share your message. I'll help you manifest this vision."

60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday: What Might the World Need to Hear From You?

2m · Published 07 May 08:00

Hello to you listening in Front Royal, Virginia!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

I’ve been asked, What one thing do you offer that no one else does? Here’s my answer: “I listen keenly and then tell the world something it needs to hear.” Perhaps like these borrowed words:

"Lord, make me a channel of disturbance.

Where there is apathy, let me provoke

Where there is mindless compliance, let me bring questioning

Where there is silence, may I encourage voices to be heard

Where there is too much turning away and too little action, grant me disruption for community’s sake

When laws dictate that pain is ignored

When tradition speaks louder than need

Grant that I may seek to do some good rather than talk about what needs doing." [Anon]

Question: What about you? What one thing do you offer to the world that no one else does?

60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: What Did You Learn & Who Did You Help Today?

2m · Published 03 May 08:00

Hello to you listening in Edmond, Oklahoma!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds of Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

Maybe like me you practice paying attention to signs, symbols, people, and opportunities that show us the way, help us make a decision, provide what we need just when we need it. The Universe has unlimited ways to get our attention, wake us up, and help guide us on the path. It’s a good reminder that we do not go it alone.

The other day I reconnected with Donna Cravotta, friend, colleague and the brilliance behind Cravotta Media Group and Real 50 Over 50 Visibility Project. We arranged for a 20-minute Meet & Greet that became a richly rewarding 90-minute heart-to-heart dialogue.

Along the way I learned about a daily practice that Donna has taught others: You don’t go to bed until you can name something you learned and someone you helped.

Story Prompt: What daily practice of yours keeps you going? Write that story!

60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday: It's Time to Move - What Do We Care About?

2m · Published 02 May 08:00

Hello to you listening in Peoria, Arizona!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

Maybe like me you’ve moved from one place to another, or changed job positions, become an entrepreneur instead of an employee, or moved duty stations if you are in the military. I’ve experienced all these changes.

But, you know what, I didn’t fully consider beforehand what I would be leaving behind until I read this question:

If I were moving away soon, what would I most want to do, and who would I most want to spend time with?”

QUESTION: For those who might be getting ready to leave one place or situation for another, what's your answer to what you most want to do, and who you most want to spend time with?

60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: You’ve Always Had Your Origin Story Power, My Dear. Now It’s Time to Use It!

3m · Published 01 May 08:00

Hello to you listening in Ritzville, Washington!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more) for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga.

Fact: No one can teach anyone how to be a storyteller; although there are many who claim to be able to do just that.

But there are people who can teach you how to teach yourself to be a storyteller. I am one of them.

Here’s how I teach you to teach yourself. We start here: you know the story you want to tell, the ideas you want to clarify, the message you want to amplify; all you need is someone to help listen it out of you; to help you find the words you didn’t know you had. Why is this key? Because you’re in charge; you’re empowered; you will use your own words in your own voice to connect human-to-human. Emotional connection doesn’t get any more authentic than that.

Over my lifetime I’ve dedicated myself to helping professionals bring their stories to life in the publishing realm, courtrooms, hospitals, board meetings, or the airwaves. My clients’ stories have influenced juries, built markets, spread ideas, and catalyzed change. What’s more, I created my 60 Seconds podcast episode method - a niche the world needs - almost 4 years ago and grew it to over 1,000 global episodes.

Benefit & Take-away: What’s the benefit to you? What will you take away? Your origin or personal brand story for marketing, connection, and influence. A heartfelt story artfully told about how you got from There to Here, the challenges you faced, the goals you accomplished, and why the journey matters so that you, your work and ideas are recognized for the value they are! Your story told with clarity and confidence.

CTA: Curious? Let’s have a conversation. You can arrange for your no-sales complimentary Discovery Coaching Session by tapping the link in the Episode Notes OR e-mailing me at [email protected] OR direct message me on LinkedIn.

You’ve always had the power, my dear! Now it’s time to tell your origin story.

60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday: TIP: When You’re Stuck Move & Draw Your Way Out

2m · Published 30 Apr 08:00

Hello to you listening in Pamplona, Spain!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

I was asked the other day what do I do when I’m stuck? When the client work isn’t as robust as I’d like? When the podcast episodes don’t seem to flow from a place of creativity but feel bogged down in muck.

You know what I mean. We’ve all been there. I have an idea to share and I bet you have some, too.

Research has shown that movement, not language, is the foundation of thought. [Mind in Motion: How Action Shapes Thought by Barbara Taversky] Action shapes thought. There’s a lot of neuroscience I don’t understand about how it works; but I can say this: while I don’t know how it works I do know that it works. Motion is the lotion for our thoughts. Maybe we’re a species of movers and shakers first. Think about it! We were cave drawing before we began talking in words.

When you get to that place where you feel stuck in the mucky middle of a project, idea, book chapter, whatever. Get up and move. Draw your stuckness. Stick figures are fine. Symbols are great. It’s not about the art; it’s about the motion that creates the thought you want to have. Try big sidewalk chalks on a concrete driveway or magic markers on a big easel pad. I like the big Post It easel pads. I can draw on a page, rip it off the pad, stick it to the wall and after I have a few I step back to look at the problem. The answer is often staring me right in the face.

Question: What also works for you when you are stuck in the mucky middle?

60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: Do or Don’t Do. No Try. What’s Your Story?

2m · Published 26 Apr 08:00

Hello to you listening in Fort Collins, Colorado!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

Two Old Women by Vella Wallis recounts an Alaska legend of betrayal, courage and survival. Based on an Athabascan Indian legend passed from mothers to daughters of the Upper Yukon Valley in Alaska this tale tells how 2 old women abandoned by their tribe during a brutal winter famine create a means to survive. After being left behind in a snowy woods one woman says to the other, “We may die out here - at least let us die trying.”

My prayer goes like this: “One day I will die. Let me die doing - no try.”

Story Prompt: I imagine you have a prayer of your own. Where did it come from? What inspired it? How does it help you? Write that story!

Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something. All that matters is you have a story.

60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday: TIP: What to Do When You Don’t Have Work to Do

2m · Published 25 Apr 08:00

Hello to you listening in Jablonne nad Orlici, Czech Republic!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

Maybe like me you have spaces in the year when you are not overly busy. In fact, you might be underly busy.

Perhaps your reaction is to scramble to be productive.

But productivity is not always related to action.

What if there’s another valuable way to use the underly busy times?

Amos Tversky, an expert of decision making, wrote, “The secret to doing good research is always to be a little underemployed. You waste years by not being able to waste hours.” [Amos Tversky — An Amazing Man]

Practical Tip: Think about this for a moment. What’s the rush? There is time to devote to day dreaming or staring out the window while giving our wonderfully creative imaginations time to breathe, show up, solve a problem.

Question: What would be so wrong about giving ourselves permission to be a little underly busy? How might that notion play out in your world?
