Do you find yourself agreeing to things that you know do not align with your values, but they make other people happy? Is it challenging for you to say no or to define what's okay versus what's NOT okay? I WAS THIS WOMAN! YES to 1000 extra ultrasound on-call shifts, YES to 20 new personal training clients, YES to the brunch with superficial people that didn't align with my values, YES to the whole day at the amusement park when I hated rides, you get the point. I was exhausted, burnt out, and resentful. I found myself when I discovered boundaries. Today, I want to share with you my experience of finding myself in hopes of opening doors for one of you to realign with you. Knowing what is okay and what is not okay when it comes to how you spend your time, who to spend it with, and when just to start over.

Whoa, what a freaking ride 2023 was! I went from being overweight and super sick to hot and hormonally balanced thanks to 2 essential things. I had a near-death experience that awakened a part of my soul that I didn't know was asleep. I moved my little family across the country for my doctorate program just to realize during orientation that I made a huge mistake. These are just a few things that life offered me this year, but the wisdom I gained from not falling apart in the middle of the storm is something I can't help but share with you all today. Even better, 2024 looks like some massive life shifts mentally, emotionally, and physically. My hope is that you can take away a slice of encouragement for yourself to move towards your own goals this year, regardless of what society is telling you.

Why Being "Popular" Is Deceptively Inviting

Growing up in a small town, I would call myself one of the "least popular" girls in school. It's not that I wasn't friendly or athletic or "goofy" pretty (you know, that awkward stage where you dress in bell bottoms and a baggy t-shirt), but I didn't "know" the right people. My family relocated to upstate NY when I was in 5th grade (a peculiar age to transition), and everyone I met had parents who taught at school, coached the women's soccer league, planned the PTO meetings, and knew somebody they could call to hook you up with whatever it is you needed. At the time, this sucked, to be honest, so today, I want to deep dive into popularity and how it's not all it's cracked up to be. I believe my personal success and achievements in life thus far are entirely because I wasn't "popular."
