Luke Ambler - Mental Health, Rugby League and Leading by example

On episode seven of the Believe In Yourself Podcast, I am joined by former professional rugby league player now turned entrepreneur, motivational speaker and founder of Award Winning Andy’s Man club, Luke Ambler. Luke shares his incredible story started with sharing his experiences as a young boy when his mother and father separated, and his mother was seriously injured in a car crash. Luke fell in love playing Rugby League as it allowed me to be his true self on the field and went onto representing Salford, Leeds Rhinos and his country Ireland. He opens up on his experiences playing professional rugby league and shares a number of stories that he has never told before. In 2016 Luke’s brother in law Andy Roberts took his own life at the age of 23. Determined to make a change Luke founded Andy’s Man Club. What started with a small group men that turned up and talked openly about their feelings and struggles. They now have 28 clubs across the UK and have just under1000 people that show up every Monday. We talk about how Luke deals with the pressure of running a huge movement, the importance of talking about your own struggles and mental health in rugby. Martin Sinclair - ​Never let your disability be an excuse

On the third episode of the Believe In Yourself Podcast, Luke is joined by England International and Paralympian Martin Sinclair. He has received 54 caps for his country playing for England Cerebral Palsy Football team. He also represented Team GB at the London 2012 Paralympics alongside his brother Scott Sinclair became the first brothers to represent Great Britain at the Paralympic and Olympic Games. In 2016 he was inducted into the National Football Museum, Hall of Fame.  In this episode, Martin talks about his experiences when he has turned away from the sport because of his disability. He shares the challenges and obstacles that he faced during his life including his darkest moments when he almost took his own life.  Martin shares his personal experiences how he fell back in love with football and the changes that he had to make in his life to become the best version of himself when representing his country.
