2020 has been a whirlwind for us all so far. With Covid-19, Black Lives Matter and the economy, it can feel overwhelming as senior executives and entrepreneurs with what we can do (and not do). Coaching has seen a huge rise in the last few years. But with this rise, comes a need to better understand what the fundamental role of coaching is. One of the biggest takeaways we’ve learned from this year is the impact of self-reflection, and protecting regular time and space for this. The rise of conscious consumerism means there’s even more need to know where to turn to do the right thing. A topic I notice that keeps on arising for managers is how people handle frustration about – and with – fellow team members. We can’t read each other’s minds and we are human but it’s important to lead by example, and be fully responsible for your team’s perception across the business.
