10m · PublishedThey say it takes 30 days to build a habit, right? Oh contraire. I completely disagree. It depends on a lot of factors: How long you've been doing the current habit, how much you enjoy the current habit, how much you dislike the new habit, what you tell yourself about doing the new habit, what you've been taught through parents, friends, society about both the old and new habits and if you "think" about the habit for 30 days but only do the habit 20 days, how many days have you actually worked on building the new habit?
Often we can't just go through the motions and expect results. This episode will give you one piece of advice that will change how long it takes for you to build a new habit.

13m · PublishedIt's hard to stick with new habits. That we know. It is not rocket science. I am going to share that gem here with you today. It may be part of why you aren't able to stick with a new habit. Check it out!

13m · PublishedHow many times have you said (or heard) it's easier said than done? This is a true statement in many ways, but it can be used as an excuse. We have the ability to hit the manual override in our brain and not give into the survival brain trying to tell us that it is easier not to do it. We need to help our goals come to fruition and if we give into these sort of statements it can make the road so much more difficult. Habits take time to build, but what we say to ourselves, our self talk, makes a huge difference in how we feel about the tasks we're working on.

12m · PublishedAnxiety can be debilitating. It can make reaching goals feel impossible. It can make working on new habits feel hopeless. Anxiety makes everything so much more difficult. And whereas it is something we need, it is aggravating when it tries to prevent us from taking steps to be better. Things like "you'll just fail again" or "you'll look like an idiot going to the gym like that" can cause the survival part of the brain to activate making it very difficult to do what we so badly want to do. There are a few things you can do to break free from this prison, however and today's episode will give you a few tips.

15m · PublishedIt is not easy to stay motivated and focused on your goals. There are so many things that get in the way. But worst of all is ourselves. We can be our own worst enemy! Self control is not usually innate. It is something learned. When we're resisting something using self-control, we're fighting the survival part of our brain saying "I need this NOW"...kind of like a toddler. We don't give into the toddler's temper tantrums...hopefully! So why give into our own temper tantrums? Learning and using self control is not easy as it goes against survival, but we have a crap-ton of logic that we can use to help us through the difficult times. So stay tuned to this episode so you can start working on your self control today.

19m · PublishedSometimes when we look at people who are currently where we want to be, we think "they've always been successful" or "they've never been through something; they don't understand". Sometimes it's hard to see that the people who are doing amazing may have come from very difficult backgrounds themselves. The human brain has the capacity to overcome so much and we have the ability to hit the "reset" button or the "override" button anytime. But how often do you do that? How often do you say "I messed up but I'm starting over right now" versus "I'll try again tomorrow" or "I'm a failure". As long as you're trying, you are not a failure. In this episode I share a bit about my struggles with consistency and how my mindset varies from one thing I love to another and how that impacts my results. Mindset, the way we look at something and what we tell ourselves about that thing goes a long way to our ultimate success or failure at whatever it is we're working on.

But here we are doing another one to make sure I'm using the same tools I teach you. I can make all the excuses in the world but I just have to take responsibility for my own actions or lack of action and so do you for your action or lack of action on your goals. This week I will provide a few more tips to help when you seem to be falling off the wagon and aren't sure how to get back up because your brain is telling you things like "you're a failure" "don't bother" or other unhelpful things.
