BONUS EPISODE: 2020 Reflection and a Guided Meditation

48m · Published 24 Dec 00:37

We couldn’t end the year without reflecting on it, right? This episode will take you down memory lane with snippets from my guests this year from Vicki Moore to Flo Adepoju (27:36), but not before my chat with Zinah Nur Sharif who had an eventual 2020! In this episode from 01:47, Zinah talks about how she got married and moved to two countries this year, with stints in Istanbul and London. It was a wholesome conversation, as we talked about our love for Christmas movies including the new Jingle Jangle, adjusting to her new life in Seoul and her hopes for 2021.

To round the episode (and year for that matter) on a calmer note, from 42:57 onwards, Faiza kindly shared a body and mind guided relaxation which you can listen to in full on CBT app Happier You, available on the Apple App Store.

You can find Zinah on Instagram @thezirkus.

9. Vagacials and Toxic Positivity with Nirvana Safa

48m · Published 01 Dec 14:00
This episode is a rather special one as I’m joined by my best friend, business partner, qualified herbalist and naturopath practitioner, Nirvana Safa. Nirvana and I tap into things that we either haven’t ever told one another, or touched on for years. Take for example her mental health breakdown following an experience with ayahuasca, the recovery from which led her to become a qualified herbalist where she treats patients for a number of health concerns, particularly women’s sexual and reproductive health including PCOS, hormonal acne and bacteria vaginosis. Nirvana is also the founder of Vagacials, essentially facials for the intimate area, combining her beauty therapy experience with her naturopath experience to provide women with a holistic treatment. With all of that said, you bet it was an interesting conversation! You can find Nirvana on Instagram @nirvana_herbalist. Vagacials is also on Instagram @vagacials, and so is Dish Your Herbs @dishyourherbs. Stay in touch with Mind Pretty Soul on Twitter and Instagram: @mindprettysoul.

7. Starting a Beauty Brand and Skincare Routines with Florence Adepoju

40m · Published 01 Oct 00:34

In an industry where most beauty brands boil down to a handful of common denominator conglomerates, I truly relish launches from those that are niche and independent with a great backstory. One such brand is MDMflow, founded by Florence Adepoju, also known as Flow. MDMflow is far from your ordinary beauty brand, so expect to find hip-hop inspired lipsticks in shades ranging from black to blue to bright oranges. With that said, in this episode, Flow and I talk about where she finds inspiration, how the beauty industry doesn't receive as much respect as other industries and her beauty routine.

You can find MDMflow on Twitter and Instagram at @MDMflow. Flow's personal Instagram and Twitter can be found at @flowsphenom.
