Episode 4 Understanding The Vocal Break

20m · Published 06 Nov 06:43

One of the most common questions I am asked, is why does my voice break and can I make that go away.

The answer is you are not alone, it happens to everyone, and YES you can smooth out your break.

Firstly you have to understand how your instrument works. You don't need a biology degree or a masters in vocal mechanics, just feel what's happening. Don't force or push, just go with it. Once you know where the notes want to be placed when sung gently, you can build power and bridge the gap.

Listen as I explain, (and make some weird noises) to show you how and why everyone experiences this and why its so important to be patient and gentle with your voice to get faster, healthier results that will have you throwing weight at the big notes.

Are You Scared of Singing?

21m · Published 31 Oct 03:43

The psychological blocks we throw in front of our voice and how singing can be so scary for some people fascinates me. In this episode we look at why you might fear singing in public, or even in a lesson. You'll learn how to over come fears that may have stopped you taking lessons, joining a choir or simply singing for fun.

In this episode, you'll immediately begin to confidently enjoy singing again and be able to start trusting what your voice can do when your brain isn't getting in the way!

Breathing Technique & The Importance of Warming Up Your Voice

We will also look at various breathing techniques and ways to help you improve your lung capacity as well as balance a strong and consistent sound when singing.
