About my guest:
Jo Cabey is an elementary school administrator and adjunct professor. Having been in the field of education her entire professional career, Jo is extremely dedicated to the academic and personal success of black children in America.
She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications from Claflin University & a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Jo is very proud of her Caribbean roots, which stem from the island, Montserrat.
Jo is an advocate for survivors of sexual abuse and is a member of the Speaker’s Bureau with RAINN, the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization. Additionally, Jo is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.
In 2016, she started a travel blog where she shared her explorations of being a solo, budget-friendly traveler. Most recently, she enjoys writing and speaking about a variety of personal interests, which include advocacy for women who have experienced trauma, mental health topics, and living your best life now. She just wrote her debut novel, Jada’s Diary: From Growing Pains to Found Promise (released
9/12/20) which hits on many of those topics that are near and
dear to her.
