The Beachfront Therapist

The Beachfront Therapist is a space for mental health providers. We have honest conversations about what it means to be a therapist, and run a business, while trying to make space for our own happiness. This podcast, and the Facebook community, focus on all the ways we can make space for fun and joy in our lives and businesses. Topics include tips to make your practice or side hustle run smoother, systems and organization, creative ways to stave off burnout, finding joy in our profession, and current trends and concerns in the field. 
The Beachfront Therapist's host is Lisa Savinon, a counselor that moved to the beach after discovering the need to make space for her own fun and happiness. Lisa's practice is entirely telehealth, and she is also a wife and mom, special needs parent, doctoral student, EMDRIA consultant in training, and an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 200). 
This podcast features episodes on all things therapy and practice owning as well as special EMDR by the Ocean episodes for those that are passionate about EMDR.

An important part of our role is understanding out clients lived experience as well as being an advocate and supporting clients as they advocate for themselves. An important part of this is being competent in areas relevant to our client's life, including gender. The goal of this show is to help clinicians navigate conversations centered on gender and gender questioning in session. We will also discuss terminology to help us be better equipped for sessions and the resources available to us for continuing our education on this topic. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 6 million children aged 3–17 have been diagnosed with ADHD between 2016-2019. This makes it quite likely that a clinician has or will work with someone diagnosed with ADHD at some point in their career. Because of this, it is important for all clinicians to be familiar with appropriate tools and interventions for ADHD clients.
