A Conversation with Dan Glynn

1h 6m · Published 06 Mar 16:30
Hi guys, For Episode number 32 of the podcast I was delighted to welcome Dan Glynn on for a chat. Dan is a Holistic Health & Performance Coach who helps clients with both their physical and mental needs. Dan’s coaching business is award winning and I just love his mentality around the Fitness Industry currently and how he wasn’t been nourished by where it was heading so decided to take his own detour which re lit his passion and he just loves to help people summon their own potential to reach for their dreams which is amazing. Dan works with clients on a one to one basis, Group Coaching, Online Coaching and Corporate Coaching as well as working within the Soulspace community with recent podcast guests Gerry and Miriam Hussey. We went deep into some pivotal moments in Dan’s life which left a long lasting effect on him and helped guide him to where he is now. I also loved Dan’s acronym for L.I.F.E – Live It Fully Everyday  Other topics we discussed was how we spend too much energy fighting the old instead of building the new, good old Socrates helped us out with the quote  (Dan loves the quotes as much as me) We discussed in depth failure and being given the permission to fail by our parents, coaches etc is a huge positive in growing and succeeding because we realise then it’s ok to fail, you won’t be loved any less and it’s part of life which is so true. We talk about self-care and the power of connecting to our inner child if we are in the habit of being over self critical. There is so much more but the synopsis would be too long as there was so many amazing takeaways, you just have to listen to it yourself. Dan is fantastic guy and his journey is very similar to mine so I was over the moon that we have connected. I hope you enjoy it, please please share, tag, send it to people who you think need to hear what Dan has to say because I think we all do  Enjoy guys, Michael

A Conversation with Psychotherapist Sheila Ryan

50m · Published 14 Feb 14:22
In Episode 30 of the podcast I was delighted to welcome Psychotherapist & Counsellor Sheila Ryan on for a chat. The main topic that Sheila discussed which is very important in the current situation is “Resilience” Sheila discusses what Resilience is?, Why is it important?, What are resilience skills?, What is a resilient person? and how do we build resilience into our lives?. It was an amazingly insightful 50 minutes with Sheila breaking down in simple terms what people are currently going through and how we can surrender to the fact that s she quotes from Scott Pecks book “The Road Less Travelled” that “Life is difficult, once we truly realise that life is difficult and once we understand and accept this, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters” She also sees the word Resilience as a verb as it’s an “Active” thing; you DO something to become more resilient rather than letting life happen TO you. Sheila goes onto to discuss hope, and that life is a gift and we have the “Choice” to engage in life or not and that we should live by the ethos “The serenity to accept the things I cannot change” We need action to happen which will give us hope that we will come out the other end of this. I want reveal anymore because it’s best just to listen to her profound words yourself. Please send it to at least one other person you think may benefit from it, I was blown away by the conversation and I’m sure you will be too. Enjoy, Thanks Michael

A Conversation with Miriam Kerins Hussey

1h 2m · Published 30 Jan 16:47
During Episode 29 of the podcast I was delighted to be joined by integrative Health & Wellness Coach Miriam Kerins Hussey. You will find so many amazing takeaways from these 60 mins. Miriam discusses the Nervous system and how important it is and impact if has if we let our “flight or fight” take control too much and how we can re balance ourselves by stimulating out “rest and digest” part of the system as well but simply focus on our breath. In the current climate we might be over stressed so this is even more important. Miriam also discusses hoe Meditation and breath work in the morning can set us up for a more productive day and life if we continue to practice daily. Miriam became a first time mum during the 1st lock-down so we discuss all things postpartum including maintaining social interactions as much as possible in our own house but also with other mums online and become more playful at home to keep our feel good Oxytocin hormone levels up especially in the current stressful climate. Miriam talks about how important the age 0-8 years old for a child in regards to their motor abilities but also their emotional development and asked a great question “What is the energy like in your house currently” As this is what the child will feed off and learn so make it a place of love, fun and laughter instead of one of anger and stress. Other topics we discussed included “professional pivots” which happen and which is health as you are “meeting your soul as it grows and evolves” love that  Everything in life is changing all the time so we can embrace that sometimes. Do what nourishes your soul and you won’t go far wrong. Another great takeaway I took was instead of stacking all these negative thoughts on top of each other until it blows, Miriam recommended doing a “Ctrl Alt Delete” and reframe the situation, take a pause, create space and go into your heart and remind yourself that these thoughts are not serving me so let’s take a different course of action and affirm that “you are enough” and flip that mind-set. A truly inspiring human being who I learnt so much form as I am sure you will too, we need more people like Miriam in this world that is for sure. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did recording it. Please share, tag and rate... We need to get this one trending for sure as it will serve so many people. Thanks Michael

Q&A with Gerry Hussey

50m · Published 13 Dec 18:01
In Episode 28 of the Podcast I was delighted to welcome back Ireland's leading Health & Performance Coach Gerry Hussey. Myself and Gerry received so much positive feedback on Part 1 that Gerry came to me and asked whether we would do a Part 2 Questions and answers podcast based on the 1st on. So I put that out to the masses and I received many questions on various topics such as Gut Health, overcoming Fear, working through Covid anxiety, starting each day with a clean slate, help with Meditation, The power of Visualization and many more. Gerry has a way of delivering and connecting to people which is unrivaled in the industry of coaching and personal development. It was so amazing to have Gerry on the 1st time but to have him back on the podcast for a second time was truly humbling. A Conversation with Rosie Farrell

1h 3m · Published 05 Dec 13:46
In episode 27 of the Podcast I was delighted to welcome a very special guest, Mrs. Rosie Farrell for a chat. Rosie is a Designer and Sub-Editor for Irish Daily living in the Irish Farmers Journal. Rosie is an inspirational woman who has shown amazing courage and strength after being diagnosed as with Multiple Sclerosis in her early 20’s which was a bombshell to say the least, especially being in the middle of training for the Dublin Half Marathon at the time. Rosie takes us on a journey of her mind-set to overcome adversity of her diagnosis and having to live with periods of chronic pain which has sometimes left her crying on the floor not being able to move with the pain. She has periods of relapse and periods of feeling relief and uses a cane and a wheelchair if she will be out of the house for long periods as she can tire easily. She also featured in RTE Televisions “Big Life Fix” Program earlier this year where she was helped carry on her passion for Art and painting by engineering equipment to help her ergonomically carry on painting which plays such an important part of Rosie’s life. I was blown away by her positive attitude to her diagnosis and how she has become an ambassador for MS Ireland and educates other sufferers and their families on what has helped her and to support them anyway she can. She has recently painted some amazing Christmas cards which are currently on sale and can be found on the MS Ireland online shop with all proceeds going to MS Ireland. I am very proud to say that Rosie is also my 2nd cousin and she is such an amazing human being and I know you are all going to be as inspired by her as I am. Enjoy guys. I talk about the bodies stress response and the part of the nervous system that we tend to focus on the least which is our Parasympathetic nervous system which is the bodies natural state of relaxation, I then go onto talk about the more healthy coping mechanisms which include things like Meditation, Better sleep, Healthier eating habits, improving exercise levels and Journaling. I hope you enjoy this short solo podcast, please review, share and tag. I think in the current situation we find ourselves in, we need these tips to help us through this second lockdown. 1h 12m · Published 04 Oct 14:24
on Episode no.24 of the podcast I welcomed Founder of the Kenya Education Project Eddie Sheehy to the Studio 7 Podcast. It was both a fascinating and inspiring chat about what inspired Eddie to start the charity in 2003 and the amazing work the project a long with the sterling work of its volunteers and donors has achieved in providing sponsorship to both primary and secondary pupils and also helping to fund a feeding station at the school plus bringing over clothes, boots, footballs and gear to the children every year. A Conversation with Physical Therapist Ger Keane

1h 11m · Published 13 Sep 14:17
in Episode 23 of the Podcast I talk to the legend that is Ger Keane. I got an insight into how Ger got into the Physical Therapy Industry relatively later in life and the impact he has had since has been massive. From his start in the world renown Ger Hartmann Clinic where he worked with Elite athletes all around the world including former UK athlete Paula Radcliff a long with many more. We discuss the level someone like Paula trained at and what the difference is between a really good athlete and player to a top level athlete. Honestly guys you need to listen to some of the stories, they gave me goosebumps anyways. Ger went onto talk about his experience with the Kerry Team and working with players and how satisfying it is to see the players succeed. Ger is a very humble and modest human and states that he is merely the "bus driver" leading the guys and ladies to their destination and that they do all the hard work. He mentions a lovely story about his relationship with Kieran Donaghy which you have to listen out for too after he was on the brink of retiring to come back to All Ireland glory. Spin tingling stuff guys. He talks about how witnessing and working 1st hand with an Olympic Kenyan runner in a Sauna helped him use similar methods with Colm "Gooch" Cooper in his rehab from his torn ACL and knee fracture. It was fascinating stuff guys so jump on and have a listen. Ger doesn't just work with athletes, he works wightith the general public and anybody who needs him. He is inspired by his clients who arrive into him every day and his passion for his work is infectious. An amazing episode from an amazing human being. I have been treated by Ger myself and his positivity during my injury and rehab helped me massively. Enjoy guys, please share an tag and drop a review on Apple podcasts as well so we can get this out to as many people as possible. :) Thanks Michael

A Conversation with Physical Therapist Julia Buest

1h 8m · Published 05 Sep 16:18
in Episode 22 of the podcast I am joined by Physical Therapist Julia Buest who partners with Ger Keane in the Ger Keane Physical Therapy Clinic here in Kerry. We had a fascinating discussion on how she got into the industry after suffering a very serious knee injury herself which halted her sporting career which included being an underage Waterford County footballer and Athletic star to not being able to play or compete again. This inspired her to help others to rehabilitate themselves and has gone on to be a leading figure in physical Therapy in Kerry. We also discuss the trends in injuries in the young and older people and how rehabilitation has changed and improved over the last decade from where it was which wasn't a great place before. We talk about her holistic approach to injury recovery utilizing strength an conditioning coaches into the treatment chain to recover the client back to normal functioning or back to playing with a higher degree of injury resilience in the future and more knowledge of how to work with weights properly and with sound technique. I hope you enjoyed it, I certainly did :) Thanks Michael
