Powerful Ways to Build Your Self Awareness Muscle

27m · Published 20 Apr 02:08
In the coaching/therapy space that I work in, self-awareness is often heralded to be the key to personal growth and fulfilment. Self-awareness researcher Tasha Eurich discovered that 95% of people believe they are self-aware, however, only 12–15% possess both high internal and external self-awareness (I spoke about Tasha Eurich’s archetypes previously). Eurich’s research suggests that there’s a profound opportunity within each of us to deepen our understanding of ourselves and the world around us. I believe self-awareness is the most powerful practice we can embody to discover true emotional freedom and deeper connections. Imagine for a moment that every external trigger, every challenge and every uncomfortable conversation could serve as a stepping stone towards greater self-awareness. As we peel back the layers of our consciousness, we not only enrich our own lives but also become catalysts for transformation in the lives of those around us. In today’s podcast I share Powerful Ways to Flex your Self Awareness Muscle, here are a few areas I will be discussing The power of brave conversations Why presence and mindfulness hold the key to our awareness Why feedback is your friend How working with a Coach or Therapist can expand your self-awareness Why journaling is a powerful tool for awareness (get my prompts) The role of empathy and compassion in building awareness As we embark on this journey of self-awareness, let us remember the words of Eckhart Tolle: “Awareness is the greatest agent for change”. May we courageously shine the light on the seen and unseen aspects of ourselves, paving the way for growth, healing, and transformation. 7 Transformative Practices for Achieving Your Goals and Intentions

25m · Published 19 Feb 21:03
For years, I eagerly engaged in the ritual of setting goals and intentions. There's something magical about envisioning a new future, filled with excitement and anticipation. Yet, despite my enthusiasm, I often found myself a year later with the same aspirations, not feeling like I had shifted the needle as much as I had wanted, and sometimes not at all. The truth is, most of us start with a burst of energy only to see our resolutions, goals or habits fade into the background by mid-January. It's a common tale—80% of people abandon their goals and intentions by then. For me, the turning point came when I embraced less obvious practices for manifesting and actioning my goals and dreams. As a seasoned coach deeply immersed in the world of goal-setting, I've unearthed powerful insights into what truly propels achievement and follow-through. In this episode, I'm unveiling 7 transformative practices to embed your goals and intentions with integrity so you can achieve greater results in the year ahead. From harnessing energy to silencing inner saboteurs, each strategy offers a new perspective on unlocking your full potential. Tune in and set yourself up for success this year. The Art of Letting Go: Ceremonies for Release and Renewal

21m · Published 07 Dec 23:27
As the year draws to a close, it's a natural time for reflection. In this episode, we explore the art of letting go—a practice crucial for personal growth and evolution. Key Takeaways: Completion and Reflection: The end of the year prompts us to review and release what no longer serves us, be it beliefs, thoughts, or patterns. People often know what they want to let go of but are unsure of how to let go, in this episode I show you how. Five Powerful Letting Go Rituals: Burying: Ground the act of letting go by physically connecting with the earth. Burning: Use fire's transformative power to release what no longer serves you. Cleansing with Water: Symbolic immersion in water for purification and renewal. Journaling: Express emotions and thoughts on paper, a practice backed by research. Feeling It: Mindfully connect with emotions and sensations as a vital step in the letting go process. Movement: Engage in intentional movement to release stored energy and shift perspective. Closing Thoughts: Explore these rituals and find what resonates with you. Share your experiences and let me know which rituals work best in your letting go process. Connect and Share: Share a screenshot of the episode on social media and tag me. Rate and review the podcast to help others discover it. Message me if you want the free meditation [email protected]. Picture this: you're standing at the cusp of a new year, and you have a choice. You can either rush headlong into the year, taking with you the same beliefs, patterns and habits of the past year or you can take a moment to reflect, learn, and pave the way for a more aligned and purposeful year. Each year I practice an end-of-year review ritual and I have shared it with hundreds of others, who have also made it part of their annual ritual. It has become a personal growth practice that I look forward to and can’t imagine starting a new year without it. This deep self-reflection practice has the power to reshape your year and your life and in today’s podcast I want to share the significance and transformative ability of this annual practice. I believe it is an essential step in priming you for the year ahead and crafting your year with Intention. In the podcast, I share why the Year-End Review is so important to your future success. We discuss: * The power of self-reflection to learn and pivot * Benchmarking yourself against yourself to review your growth * Why you need an energetic circuit breaker for a new year. * The benefits of the practice of pausing to celebrate your wins * How to use your reflection to map your best year ahead How You Can Practice An End of Year Review Ritual: I have crafted a workshop series called "Intention," which includes an in-depth exploration of the Year-End Review process (our first workshop). It's designed to guide you through some empowering questions and self-reflections, which have been refined over the years. The Art of Shutdown Rituals: Unwind and Thrive

19m · Published 31 Aug 23:56
You’ve probably heard of the power of a morning ritual. Today I want to share about the power of a shutdown ritual and how it can impact your performance, productivity and your ability to feel calm, connected and present in a highly stimulated world. There is no doubt that most of us feel constantly ‘on’ and unable to switch our minds off. It is unsurprising we have a global sleep issue and feel so stuck in our heads. One of the reasons for this is we haven’t properly shut down from one task to the next, we essentially have too many tabs open. Today I’m going to share some ways to help this, that go beyond the day-to-day. In the podcast, I share: Why shutdown rituals are essential for your success The power of end-of-day shutdown rituals for work and home How to close open loops and rest the mind Why you need to consider daily, weekly, monthly and yearly shutdown rituals Plus so much more. Rewiring For Motivation - Overcoming Your Primitive Brain

36m · Published 03 Aug 23:28
Have you ever wondered why it is so hard to press stop at the end of a cliffhanger Netflix episode and why it is so easy to click next and watch another hour when you know you should go to bed? Or why it is so hard to stop scrolling your phone when you know you should be doing something much more productive or meaningful? Or perhaps, why you often reach for the sweet treat in the afternoon rather than have the carrots and hummus in the fridge? It comes down to our motivation and our primitive brain’s desire to move towards pleasure, avoid pain and conserve energy, otherwise known as the Motivational Triad. In today’s podcast, I’m going to be sharing: - How we can overcome our primitive brain and find new strategies to increase motivation - The role dopamine plays in motivation and how to find ‘good’ dopamine releases - Insights into how to find long-term happiness rather than short-term pleasure - How my husband James had a huge motivational shift - How you can find easy ways to do hard things And so much more… If you are wanting to feel more motivated and overcome procrastination or unwanted distractions, dive in and take a listen. Celebrate Your Wins

22m · Published 06 Jul 23:13
My husband James recently said to me, “We should drink some of that champagne down in the garage, it’s getting old!”. I’m embarrassed to admit some of the bottles down there I’ve had since London days but they’re extra special ones and I’ve been waiting for just the right occasion to celebrate. And this is what we often do in life. We save our celebrations for the really big occasions, we let the special moments or successes slip by or we forget to celebrate. Here’s the thing, you don’t need to have champagne to celebrate but you DO need to celebrate your successes often (ideally daily) to truly find joy and fulfilment in life. As a coach, I am very passionate about taking moments in life to acknowledge and celebrate where we are and what we have achieved. It is so easy to get onto the life treadmill and get so focused on the endpoint or goal that we forget to invite in the joy of the micro wins along the way. On the podcast today, we'll explore the transformative power of celebrating success and its profound benefits for your well-being. Join us as we dive into the joys of celebrating your wins, no matter their size. Discover how celebration increases pleasure and motivation by activating your brain's natural reward system. We'll uncover the role of dopamine, the neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and reward, and how it reinforces the behaviours that lead to success. Moreover, we'll explore how celebration boosts positivity, counterbalances daily negativity, and enhances your mental and emotional well-being. By shifting your focus to gratitude and celebration, you can rewire your brain and generate positive emotions. To wrap up, we'll provide practical ideas on infusing the celebration of your wins into your life. Consider recording your achievements, sharing them with loved ones, and creating meaningful rituals. These practices will help you fully embrace the power of celebration and transform your life. So tune in and prepare to be inspired and motivated as we uncover the incredible benefits of celebrating your wins and successes. Get ready to embark on a journey of joy, fulfilment, and happiness through the power of celebrating your wins. And remember, everything, including us, has an expiry date so don’t leave those champagne moments too long!

How To Protect Your Energy (Hello Empaths)

15m · Published 20 Apr 23:37
We recently went away as a family and I discovered the extent to which my daughter is an empath (I share more of this in the podcast). Just like the word suggests, being an empath means you have a very deep sense of empathy, you are highly attuned and sensitive to other people's (or animals') emotions and feelings. Some signs you are an empath include You are sensitive and feel things deeply You feel overwhelmed or fatigued by crowds or large groups of people You are naturally intuitive and sense things quickly You are sensitive to sounds, smells and other sensations You need time to regroup and recover from certain people or situations. You dislike conflict or friction and find it hard to not let it affect you. Whether are an empath or not, it is important to know how to protect your precious energy around people or things that dysregulate you. In this podcast, I share more about being an empath and 5 ways to protect your energy. To join the waitlist for Living with Purpose find out more here https://www.simonedenny.me/living-with-purpose
