How To Be Your Own Best Friend

20m · Published 09 Jun 23:56
I've been chatting a lot lately about self-compassion and how to shift from defaulting to the inner critic to being the inner coach.  Do you believe if you aren't hard on yourself you won't be motivated or you won't achieve enough or you will become lazy? (a common belief).  What is interesting is that the contrary is actually true. There is a growing body of scientific research showing that being your own friend and showing self-compassion has a myriad of benefits associated with it.  If you are interested in: * Reducing stress and anxiety  * Procrastinating less  * Achieving goals faster  * Reducing depression  * Increasing your self worth + much more ..... have a listen to my latest podcast. I share about the importance of self-compassion but also simple ways you can show up for yourself more, just like you would for a good friend.  Simone X

Human Design With Christine Spicer

46m · Published 28 Sep 23:30
“In 2005, holidaying in Germany, I discovered Human Design and suddenly my experience of life made sense.  Four years of study later, I became the first IHDS Certified Analyst in NZ and established the first professional NZ Human Design service. Since then I continued to study and qualified as a Human Design Teacher to facilitate introductory and advanced courses, retreats.  I’ve delivered more then 1000 readings and as many coaching sessions and have facilitated hundreds of people in the process of getting to know themSelves in live retreats and coaching series. My particular delight is working with the felt experience of your design in your body and energy system either online or in person. I love working with the living map of energy and information which is your potential, using my Reflector aura to reflect, animate create space and uplift you towards your True Self - in aura, online or in person. The privilege of helping my client’s access who they are and let go of who they’re not, is touching and deeply meaningful to me. I’ve watched profound transformation in my students and clients, as they step into the felt experience of making decisions from body wisdom and strategy, accessing the aliveness of their truth from the inner landscape of Self. While my study and qualifications in Human Design have brought me to this work, I’m deeply grateful to my former self for all the professional experience I gathered in 25years of training and teaching as a master facilitator and coach and then teacher of facilitators and coaches. This is a potent enabler of my work with Human Design and makes sense of my life path and purpose as it’s unfolded through all its stages. I have huge respect for the Human Design System and its wisdom directing us well beyond the confines of our highly developed minds and into the heart of our own particular intelligence beyond conditioning. Returning constantly to the profound truth of my particular map in action in the world has refreshed and animated my life in ways for which I’m deeply grateful. This remains the well-spring of my own passion for sharing Human Design with you. I’m also a Director of Spirited Leadership where I work as a coach and facilitator bringing more aware, sustainable and vital ways of being, working and leading to our clients. I find Human Design is a wonderful way to access true integrity, health and empowerment in leadership.” Christine Spicer , founder of the Human Design movement in New Zealand. www.humandesign.nz www.spiritedleadership.nz

Daring to Lead with Kaila Colbin

1h 9m · Published 30 Aug 03:10
Do you ever meet someone, or hear someone speak, and just feel completely enamoured with their brain capacity? I felt like this recently after I attended a Dare To Lead™ workshop facilitated by Kaila Colbin. Kaila completely embodies the work of Brene Brown and expresses it like it is her own. She presents with captivating storytelling, knowledge, and practicality. Following the talk, I discovered that this topic is just one of her many areas of expertise. See her incredibly impressive bio here https://simonedennywellness.com/daring-to-lead-with-kaila-colbin/. Kaila is also a leading futurist teaching people about exponential technologies and their impact on humanity, she is the curator of TEDx Christchurch and TEDx Antarctica, and has trained with Al Gore to be a Climate Change Ambassador. To me, Kaila is someone who is daring to lead in her own life. In our conversation, she shares with me how we can lead and rise in our own lives, whether that is within our own families, at work or in the community. We talk about courage, vulnerability, and shame. Kaila shares how to have courageous conversations and why belonging is so much more important than fitting in, plus so much more! If your ears are pricking up around this topic then I highly recommend joining Kaila for her upcoming 2-day workshop in Auckland (September) and Christchurch (November). Why Meaningful Connection is Our Lifeblood

20m · Published 26 Jul 04:38
Never before has it been so clear to me that meaningful connection is one of THE most important things you can do for your mental and physical health. If only, when we visited a doctor or a therapist, there was a question about your meaningful relationships; about how connected you are feeling to others or if you are feeling alone or isolated in certain parts of your life. These simple questions could add years to your life, could help you find new solutions to anxiety and depression and could provide valuable insights into things like inflammation in the body and heart disease. All of which are related to loneliness and not feeling connected.  Recent research has demonstrated loneliness can increase your likelihood of mortality by up to 25%! This is equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes a day and is more of a threat than obesity.  In the podcast today I share about the importance of meaningful connection, the impact of loneliness and provide 6 research-backed ways to create more connection in your life.  In the words of Johann Hari, ’people need tribes like bees need hives’.  Love Simone X

Taming Your Digital Dependency with Dr. Kristy Goodwin

55m · Published 30 May 01:46
It is no secret that our digital dependency has become a ‘thing’. Many of us have good intentions when it comes to how much we use our technology, but somehow our lives have become so interdependent that we feel we ‘need’ to have our devices tethered to us like another limb. Research tells us the average person checks their phone 80 times a day and that we own 3.2 digital devices each. Even if we are not on our phone we are often plugged into another device or multiple devices. I have noticed my own reliance on my phone increase in recent years and as a result, I have developed a love-hate relationship with it. As parents, we often focus on managing our children’s screen time but conveniently overlook our own digital dependency. I think we can all appreciate that we missing magic moments in life because our heads are buried in a screen. I have so many questions about how this dependency is impacting our lives. Questions such as: • How is technology impacting our mental and physical health? • Why can’t we just switch off?  • What is the cost of digital distraction?  • How is it impacting children’s brains? • How do we not feel overwhelmed by what innocent eyes are seeing online?  • How is our productivity being affected by constant distraction?  • How do we manage ourselves and our children when it comes to technology? I decided to bring in one of Australia’s leading experts in Digital Health and Wellbeing, Dr. Kristy Goodwin. Kristy shares her wealth of knowledge on the topic of taming our digital dependency and helped to answer some of my burning questions on the topic. Please do check out Kristy’s website – it has a wealth of free resources, courses and webinars to help manage your relationship with technology (and your children’s).
