On today's "Lows & Highs,” Molly gives us a glimpse into a recent conflict which leads to a funny but terrifying story about night terrors. Irene talks about her low of feeling helpless in a family situation, and her high of a recent visit to Tulare, CA. Molly gives a quick introduction to their first guest, Dr. Joy Pedersen, Dean of Students at Cal Poly University and Enneagram Coach. As the Dean of Students, Dr. Pedersen is able to shed some light on recent mental health struggles of college students and gives some direction on where to go if a student is in a mental health crisis. She shares a bit about her journey of learning the Enneagram and how she uses it to help build stronger relationships and more effective communication within teams. We end with a discussion about diversity, equity, and inclusion. Connect with Dr. Pedersen here: https://claritycollective-llc.com/linktree/ Follow us on Instagram @thatsnotcrazypodcast

Compassion Fatigue

35m · Published 13 Apr 09:00

Molly and Irene start off the episode with their "lows and highs" this week. Molly had a friend visit town which lifted her spirits. Irene feels regret for spanking her toddler and vows to never do that again. Today's topic is about compassion fatigue, what is it and how to cope? When does compassion fatigue turn into desensitization or total burnout? How much of this is an individuals problem or an organization/ managerial issue? Irene talks about a time she started to feel burnout with someone from her homeless community and how she handled that situation. Molly shares some advice and insight on ways we can recognize and cope with compassion fatigue before it turns into burnout. Follow us on Instagram @thatsnotcrazypodcast.

Irene reveals a story about her early 20's as a new nurse and how she got it all wrong when she was trying to navigate imposter syndrome. Molly gives us tips on how to process and deal with this.
