Dr. Kristen Donnelly - Abbey Research

29m · Published 09 Nov 17:00

Entrepreneurship runs deep. When one is raised by a person who entrepreneurially minded, they are forever altered in how they view the world. Dr. Kristen Donnelly is a product of just such a situation. Listen as she shares about her family’s company, Abby Companies and the branch she launched called Abbey Research.

Dr. Kristen’s dad started a business working in various colors. They manufacture the stains used to diagnose certain kinds of cancer, various ophthalmological stains, and more. Even though she grew up in an entrepreneurial household however, she never realized that she too had similar aspirations.

She went to school and obtained higher and higher levels of education, but eventually realized that academia was not for her. What she learned in academia however, was that she loved helping people think more critically about themselves and their goals and dreams.

Now she runs Abbey Research, a company dedicated to helping people “human” better. Something the world definitely needs right now!

Listen as she shares about her story and how Abbey Research came to be. She also shares her top three tips for new and aspiring entrepreneurs and why she believes finding your calling is one of the most important things you’ll ever do in life.

Dr. Kristen shares so many insightful nuggets, it’s no wonder she’s a three-time TEDx speaker!

In this Episode:

[00:58] Welcome Dr. Kristen Donnelly to the show.

[03:00] What do they do at Abbey Companies?

[04:30] Learn more about Abbey Research and their mission.

10 to Win - Networking Part I

11m · Published 02 Nov 13:00

Networking is changing. The overall concept remains the same but the way in which we do it and how we connect has changed rapidly. In my personal opinion, these changes are going to stick around for years to come. Listen in to hear my thoughts on the new landscape of networking and what you should focus on to make authentic and relevant connections.

The pandemic of 2020 and 2021 has effectively opened our eyes to new ways of connecting. Thank goodness the technology already existed for us to continue interacting virtually, but now people the world over actually know how to use that technology.

Which is why I don’t believe full on in-person networking with large conferences and massive meetups will ever be a thing. Instead, I think we’re moving to a more hybrid world of networking. Yes there will still be in-person events, but I think they’ll be smaller and include a virtual option.

That being said, you still need to employ the three “Be’s” of networking. These days your connections are even more important and you’re making them in a whole new way. You need to be intentional, be about community, and be engaging.

Networking is a long game. Be prepared to create real connections with people who are excited to support and that you want to support.

In this Episode:

[00:50] Welcome to 10 to Win! Your short business tips to help further your growth.

[02:02] Get ready to learn the best practices for networking in a hybrid world.

[02:53] What is networking?

[05:22] Learn more about the different types of networking, starting with in-person.

[08:44] Don’t forget about social networking.

[09:29] I share the three “Be’s” of networking.

[10:43] Stay tuned for Part II coming in a couple of weeks.
