10 to Win - The Importance of a Personal Brand with Chris Vaglio

11m · Published 14 Dec 09:00

Let me ask you a question. Do you have a personal brand? Many entrepreneurs get so caught up creating a brand for their business, that they forget how important it is to create a personal brand as well. Listen as Chris Vaglio of Rock It Growth Agency provides quick tips on what you need to craft your personal brand.

Why do we need a personal brand? Because people still do business with people. No matter if you are the face of your company or you work in the background, you still need to develop a brand specific to you.

The five most important reasons you need to build your own brand are to stand out, create opportunities, inspire trust, establish authority, and gain access to new audiences through strengthening your current relationships.

But how do you build your own brand?

You get really comfortable with figuring out who you are. Ask yourself these questions:

  • What makes me the happiest?
  • What am I interested in?
  • What am I really good at?
  • What makes me feel MOST like me?

Once you’ve got a handle on the answers to those questions, keep reviewing them. This is an ongoing process. Think about the things that are so inherent to you, that they literally make you who you are. Those things need to be represented in your brand.

Listen to the end to hear an amazing activity that you can do to figure out your biggest strengths!

10 to Win - Empathy and the Holidays with Dr. Kristen Donnelly and Dr. Erin Hinson

11m · Published 30 Nov 13:00

The holidays are hard. We’re tired. We’re busy. We’re dealing with close family, distant family, crazy schedules, and it’s hard to remember that we’re ALL going through it. Listen as the Good Doctors of Abbey Research, Dr. Kristen Donnelly and Dr. Erin Hinson share their thoughts on empathy and the holidays.

First off, remember that different people are different and that’s a beautiful thing. We have different beliefs, different thoughts, and different views on the world. If we didn’t then the world would be extremely boring.

While it means that relationships don’t always run smoothly, it does mean that we have bright and vibrant lives.

Also, you don’t have to show up to every conversation that comes your way. You know what topics set you off and which people rub you the wrong way. Avoid them when you can. Set your boundaries and stick to them. If others don’t respect them, then that’s your cue to leave.

Last, engage in your curiosity. It is so much easier to have empathy for others when you have a baseline of knowledge about their beliefs. Ask people questions about their holidays. Learn about their traditions. Engage in your curiosity.

The Good Doctors of Abbey Research are masters of building strong relationships and looking at the world through the lens of empathy. Listen as they share their tips and advice for strengthening your empathy muscle during the holidays.

In this Episode:

[00:51] Welcome Dr. Kristen Donnelly and Dr. Erin Hinson to 10 to Win.

[01:21] Learn the importance of having empathy during the holiday season.

[01:42] Empathy is not about emotions. It’s your mental framework for understanding.

[02:38] Holidays happen year round so this conversation is good to keep in mind for all holidays.

[03:18] Different people are different. Keep that in mind.

[04:20] How do you hang out with family members that you can’t stand?

[06:17] You do not have to show up to every conversation you’re invited to. Learn more.

[07:48] Engage in your curiosity as a practice for building your empathy during holidays.

[09:36] Get curious about other people.

[10:15] A quick wrap up for tips and tricks to engage your empathy during the holidays.

10 to Win - Networking Part II

18m · Published 16 Nov 13:00

I’m back with some tactical tips to help you network in this new hybrid world. Last time I shared all about the new landscape of networking and today we’re going through ways you can make the most of your in-person, virtual, and hybrid events.

First things first, you need to have a plan. What are you looking to gain by networking at this particular event? Who do you want to meet? What are your goals for networking in general?

Figure out these specific bits and create a true plan for the event. It doesn’t need to be a 20 page business plan, but it does need to be written out and it needs to be specific.

Next, know thyself and your business. That’s right! You need to come up with a unique and interesting pitch to quickly and efficiently introduce yourself and what you do. Something more than, “Hi! My name is Sid and I’m an [insert what you do and who you do it for.]”

While that information is great, it’s not something that will capture the attention of those around you. Listen in to hear a better alternative!

Also, remember that networking is all about creating relationships. Resist the urge to go on and on about yourself and shift your focus to the people you’re meeting and talking to.

Finally, I’m sharing several different platforms you can use to strategically network online. I do mean strategically. You should have a strategy in place for how long you’re networking, who you’re networking with, and how you want your networking efforts to further your growth.

Let me know if any of these tips have helped you strengthen your networking game!

In this Episode:

[01:18] You need to have a plan when networking in a hybrid world.

[02:38] Know thyself and your business.

[04:57] Shift your focus to the person in front of you.

[06:56] Set goals for the events you’re attending.

[09:01] Various platforms to use for your networking strategy.

[12:22] Learn about the “Not Creepy Room” on Clubhouse.

[13:40] A new platform for me is Eventbrite.

[15:50] Also check out Whatsapp, Slack, and Reddit.
