Ep. 53: Getting into the "Get Sh*t Done" Mindset

We may wear it on a shirt, but we know "just do it" isn't the greatest piece of advice out there. Especially for a busy woman. We've got enough on our plates to have someone tell us, "just go get it done." 

In this episode, after Michelle and I catch up for a few, we get into the strategies we use with our clients to help them get into the "Get Shit Done" mindset.

  • Plan for problems ahead (holidays, work travel, vacation) 
  • Have a schedule and stick to it.
  • Keep the goal the goal, and accept that you’re not going to be able to do everything. 
  • Know that you don’t have to be awesome all the time
  • Embrace the grind. 
  • Know yourself, and where your blocks and distractions are likely to be. 
  • Have a support system.
  • Have something to look forward to doing every day.
  • Realize: YOU are in control, and YOU set the tone of YOUR own day. 
  • Recognize that there’s no one size fits all approach nor a “perfect time”. 
  • Create “no distractions” time and space for yourself, even if only little chunks.
  • Keep going, and focus on the bigger picture.

Have you ever felt the *ICK* about having that awkward conversation with a friend or family member about how you're trying to make better choices in your diet? Or starting to work out?

Maybe you have a friend that's been offering you takeout, and you don't want to say "no" because you're a people pleaser.

Maybe you feel guilty about shaming someone else. You don't want to be seen as someone who is "dieting" cause... ew... dieting.

With the war between diet and wellness culture (juice cleanses, Healthism, food restriction) and self-love culture (Health at every size, body-positivity), it's very challenging trying to figure out where you "live"

Michelle and I dive deep into how we approach this conversation, how we, as coaches, are constantly learning, and tips on how you can navigate this conversation yourself with your friends and family. Or who knows, maybe this is just a great internal conversation to have with yourself as you try and figure yourself out along your road to the BEST you!

She is also the head of Total Gym Fitness Equipment Australia, Suspension Training and Altitude Training International Master Coach, making her an authority on peak performance and an international speaker. Her experiences as an athlete, educational portfolio (Masters of Education and Coaching Science, Kinesiologist, Sports Scientist), entrepreneurial ventures, and enthusiastic character have shaped her as a formidable leader in health and fitness.
