Masterful Marketing

7m · Published 03 Aug 19:36

Sometimes it makes sense to read a book twice if you gained a great deal of information and stimulation from it on the first read. This is exactly what happened to me this past week when I was introduced to a book by Alan Weiss and Lisa lighter, titled masterful marketing, the title caught my attention, and I was immediately prepared to purchase a copy when I double checked my library and saw them in fact, I had already bought this book and read it from cover to cover.

In today's episode I'm going to share just a few underlined passages that caught my at in hope that it it will stimulate your thinking and help with your marketing creativity moving forward.

The today's overlying message is clear: When you enjoy and benefit from reading a good book, read it again.

You Mut Be In It To Win It

4m · Published 27 Jul 13:00

I was recently reminded that in order to experience a positive outcome, you must become an active participant. In this episode Mike uses a billion dollar lottery winner as an example of being "in it to win it."

The same relationship holds true when trying to build a profitable travel business. You must get your uniform dirty and take the ups and the downs with equal enthusiasm.

Take a listen to this week's brief reminder and after exercising a little due diligence, get ready to throw the dice with confidence knowing that sooner or later, the bones will roll in your favor.

Leveraging Testimonials

5m · Published 20 Jul 13:00

I recently received an email from a very happy travel agent who was sharing her delight after a successful group trip to Ireland. The post trip kudos she received along with a generous monetary "tip" was overwhelming. She shared the many kind notes with me and asked how she might leverage these remarks to further position her group business.

My mind immediately shot back a few years to when I took notice of a fellow speaker's attempt to do just that. In today's episode I will be sharing that strategy and I think you may personally benefit from this simple communication tactic.

We All Need To Make a Difference

4m · Published 13 Jul 13:00

Today's episode of Mike'd Up Marchev reminds us that we are all in a position to make a differfence. After spotting a supermarket bagger looking like death warmed over, I was reminded of a YouTube clip I watched a few years back. After reading my message today, you might want to click on the link to see how Johnny makes a difference everyday by simply putting food items into a bag.

Practice 7.6.23

5m · Published 06 Jul 19:32

While enjoying a morning cup of coffee on my back porch in upstate New York, I found myself thinking of the difference between a professional and an amateur. My mind segued to the professional golfer, and I reminded myself that at 6:30 a.m. in the morning the professional golfer would be hitting golf balls in the backyard polishing his trade. The amateur, on the other hand, would be hitting the snooze button, hoping to steal another 30 to 35 minutes of sleep before starting their day.

The bottom line of today's episode challenges the travel professional to begin focusing on areas requiring a little work and attention, while practicing the skills necessary to differentiate themselves from the competition.

Take a listen to today's five minute podcast and I think you will see exactly what I'm driving it.

Communication:Follow Up

5m · Published 25 Jun 13:46

Today's episode features two examples of service providers, falling asleep at the wheel when it came to communicating properly on what appear to be closed deals. It is not the buyers responsibility to keep in touch with the seller. In today's episode, Mike stresses the importance of communicating often after the deal has been made.

A second message reminds us of the importance of establishing trust and confidence in the supplier during early communications. Mike stresses the importance of losing any negative indications of you, being tired, bored, or fed up. Your customers are seeking and deserve an energetic and a more refreshing approach to business today.

Give it to them.

An Interview With Geraldine Ree

48m · Published 15 Jun 13:00

While speaking at Travel Leaders  EDGEConference this year in Nashville, Tennessee, I met a fellow speaker by the name of Geraldine Ree.

Over a cup of coffee, I was so impressed with the experience and information Geraldine shared with me so I asked her if she would be interested in being a guest on my weekly podcast.

Geraldine readily agreed and yesterday we spent 45 minutes on a ZOOM Meeting talking about a number of important skills and habits required for building a thriving travel business.

I think you will enjoy this weeks podcast featuring Geraldine Ree.

Don't Take The Telephone For Granted

4m · Published 08 Jun 18:50

Without the luxury of body, language or facial expressions, the way you modulate your voice and tone over the telephone, is largely responsible for the future success of the current communication. Due to the fact that most of us can become overworked and overwhelmed, we often pick up the telephone without thinking, and thereby destroy any good that could come from this conversation.

Today's episode will serve as a reminder of the importance of handling incoming calls in an upbeat, interested, and professional fashion each and every single time the phone rings. (there's also Halls true for outgoing calls.)

I don't mean to sound like I'm insulting you or talking down to you, but I do feel that most people can improve upon their telephone skills, thereby improving their chances for success. Here goes. You decide if the shoe fits.

Sometimes You Have Nothing To Say

4m · Published 06 Jun 14:41

Sometimes you just don't have anything of value to add to the conversation. That is exactly what happened to me prior to this month's first episode of MIKE'd UP MARCHEV.  I am a few days late in recording episode #1 for the month of June. This was because I just didn't have anything of value to add as far as I was concerned.

This delay, however, conjured up a message of its own. As professional sales people our job is not to fill dead space with meaningless banter. Our job is to bring value to each and every conversation.

Take a listen to this month initial episode, and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

You Are Always Being Watched

4m · Published 26 May 20:38

Today's message comes from a parking lot in Oneonta, NY. I watched as an unknowing patient at a medical center offered aid to a mother-son who obviously needed assistance ... but refused. Unlike most people in his position, this man resorted to Plan B.

I watched the entire situatioon unfold and before arriving at his car, I stopped him and told him that he shoujld be feeling good about himself. I also reminded him that "people are always watching."

All my stories are true. This is just the one that unfolded this afternoon.

The voice on the tape belongs to Mike Marchev.
