A Potpourri of Messages From a Recent Keynote

34m · Published 08 May 13:00

I recently spoke to a group of professional medical reps outside of Philadelphia. A weekly Zoom Sales Meeting captured many of the salient points covered during this presentation. I thought today it might be worthwhile to listen in on a few of my points.

You be the judge.

Let Others Do The Selling For You

3m · Published 02 May 15:27

You may have strong positive opinions on a particular destination or vacation package, but after all is said and done, it is your opinion. A better approach is to have others do the selling for you. Listen to today's podcast and you will see exactly how to do this.

Don't Skip Lunch

5m · Published 24 Apr 16:14

Today's episode reminds us of the importance of feeding our bodies consistently. I remind you that you are the differentiating factor in order for you to bring your a game throughout the day you must have the appropriate amount of fuel in your machine.

I reference the best female athlete that I can think of, Paula Newbie Fraser and the day she did not heedf this sage advice.

Bottom Line: Do not skip your fuel input even though you feel at the moment that it is not necessary. Think of it as filling the tank for use on demand later in the day.

If Sales Was an Olympic Event ..

6m · Published 24 Apr 16:01

If sales was an Olympic event, would you be representing the United States come July in Paris? If not, why not? You don't throw the discus or run 100 meter dash but you do work your personal career day in and day out. This leads me to an obvious question. Why aren't you the best in your business?

I understand that not everybody wants to be the best. But as long as you spend so much time doing the work that you do, doesn't it make sense to get a little better each and every day. I want you to think about what you can do every day to move from good to better.

Going From Good To Better

6m · Published 10 Apr 18:50

After some 45 years kicking around the sales arena I still have an appetitie to reach that next level in understanding and efficiency. My latest investment was a book titled AUDITION by Michael Shurtleff... recommended by famed actress Helen Mirren.

Each time we find ourself face-to-face with a buyer we are smack-dab in the middle of an audition. I quickly saw the similarities of auditioning for a part in a play with that of attempting to position the seller as the logicall choice.

Side Bar: What non-fiction book are YOU currently reading to stimulate YOUR forward motion?

AI-Generated Sales Letter

5m · Published 30 Mar 17:45

Artificial Intelligence is fast becoming a fact to be reckoned with. The secret isw to use it to your best advantage when it comes to growing your buisness and maintaining a profitable client base.

While preparing for an upcoming presentation, a sample of an AI generated sales letter was drafted, edited, tweaked and shared with this week's audience.

The pivotal word in today's message is "edited."

Olympic Discipline

3m · Published 26 Mar 18:57

In preparation for an upcoming presentation, I am rehearsing a few opening statements to garner audience attention. The topic I had in mind involves the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris and the question I will be asking has a to do with the concept of commitment. The question I am going to ask to this group of sales professionals is "if selling was an Olympic sport, would you be good enough to represent United States in Paris?"

That's the question I'm going to ask them, and that's the same question I'm going to ask you today. If selling travel was Olympic sport, would you be skillful enough at the present moment to represent the United States in Paris? If not, why not?

Pick Your Customers ... And Your Battles

7m · Published 21 Mar 22:01

Today's episode, I'm going to share with you my thoughts as they relate to two recent Facebook posts I happen tostumble across while working with a large travel group.

The first agent one was asking advice on how to deal with an ornery client. The second agent in a seperate post was seeking input on how to compete with an entity far larger than herself.

Contrary to any competitive advice you might think I will soon be sharing, you may be surprised, about how I approached each of these common situations.

Take a listen.

If Selling Was An Olympic Sport

5m · Published 01 Mar 03:21

If selling was an Olympic sport, would you be good enough, talented enough and dedicated enough to make the team for the USA? That is the question Mike raises during this episode of Mike'd Up Marchev.

This is the same question Mike will be asking a room full of sales professionals who are currently selling medical equipment at their annual sales meeting in April.

Regardless of your job or current responsibility, are you good enough to be considered one of the best? If not, why not?

Feb 26- Fly around the water tower

7m · Published 26 Feb 19:04

There comes a time when you put all of your preparation, homework, research, and practice sessions behind you and simply ply your trade. In this week's episode, Mike shares a story originating back to the days when he became a single engine airplane pilot. After failing a particular maneuver under testing conditions a number of times the instructor emphatically told Mike to forget everything he learned in the book for the moment. She told Mike to simply bring the aircraft back to its starting point and fly around the water tower keeping it positioned below the left wing.

Mike promptly did just that.

I think in this episode you will clearly get the message and remember it for a long time to come.
