Encore Episode: Finding New Tools of the Trade - Feat. Todd Sumney | Real Voices Podcast

31m · Published 23 Aug 12:00

Some people predict that the advance of technology spells the end of the real estate agent. In today's encore episode, Todd Sumney thinks these people couldn’t be more wrong.

Todd sees technology as the real estate agent's greatest ally, connecting buyers, sellers and lenders in more efficient ways than ever before. He sees that realty has “gone more virtual and become more efficient,” especially in the past two years.

He also sees agents as more valuable than ever in an age of conflicting information about properties. “I see examples everyday of top REALTORS® helping their customers navigate the real estate process, and customers needing that.”

But for Todd, despite the advances in tech, the best tool of the trade is still connection. “There are plenty of agents who would be willing to help other agents. Just ask.”

To hear more from Todd, his best advice for agents in a rut, and what excites him most about the second-half of 2022 into 2023, tune in to this episode of Real Voices!

Encore Episode: Making Memories With Folks - Feat. Todd Pias | Real Voices Podcast

15m · Published 16 Aug 13:00

Today we speak with Todd Pias, REALTOR®.

Todd has been in the industry since 2004, both on the residential and commercial side. He found that he much preferred the residential aspect of real estate as commercial was all about the numbers. “I found no emotional connection there.”

With his experience in retail management, Todd says he developed a lot of good skill sets that led him to what he does now as a REALTOR®: Taking care of the customer, hoping to make the experience unparalleled for them, and helping them make memories.

“A lot of that is not the real world,” Todd says, in response to his view on the misconceptions of what people think of real estate agents because of portrayals on industry reality shows. “What we do is relentless, it’s hard work — every day is different. You put on a different hat every day and just take it as it comes.”

Listen to Todd speak on developing relationships organically, managing expectations, and working with his wife in their business. Tune in to Real Voices on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts!

Encore Episode: Lead by Service - Feat. Jared Slater | Real Voices Podcast

34m · Published 28 Jun 11:20

In this episode of Real Voices Podcast, we talk with Jared Slater, REALTOR®

Prior to getting into real estate and getting his license, Jared Slater was a boat captain, and the owner/operator of a scuba diving charter company. “{Being a boat captain} is similar to becoming a real estate agent,” Jared says. “There’s a certification process that you have to go through, the schooling is intense. But once you get out of the schooling, the real life application means nothing…just like the real estate industry. The stuff they teach you is nothing like the real world!”

Finding his footing after a time and having to learn most things on his own, Jared discovered his niche to be in the education of first time homebuyers. “Part of the education process is running different advertisements to attract those buyers, but really offering service. There’s no catch, there’s no gimmick in it…it’s literally ‘lead by service.’”
