Embracing Enough

by Dina Scippa

Embracing Enough is a podcast that showcases the stories of women and girls - unapologetically. Together, we explore the stories and experiences that influence our collective experience and what it takes to embrace the belief that we are enough, just as we are. From the most courageous moments to those that scare us, we muse about all of the different elements of our journey in order to accept ourselves just as we are.

Chapter 41

27m · Published 10 Oct 12:38

Today is my birthday episode, and I share how birthdays are a bit of a mixed bag for me. #libra Celebration has always been a bit of a minefield for me and I unpack a little as to why. What the last year has taught me is the power that can come with choosing yourself. And as I celebrate this birthday, I'm reminded of how good choosing yourself can feel - but that it's not without those pangs of sadness and uncertainty around...'but will it work out though?" The last year has taught me the power of choosing me can be THE MOMENT. And that is more than enough.

Want to celebrate my birthday with me? Come to The Unlearning Lab LIVE! https://keap.page/jvg567/the-unlearning-lab-live1.html?fbclid=IwAR0wl7udgtrUACYsURbmNsBiLbTiAGfmrdoevPXxeAVky2GHD-cJGPxtX28

70. Unlearning What You Were Told in Your 20s

38m · Published 18 Sep 22:16

In this episode, I talk about the things that we learned in our 20s about who to be at work, in relationships and in friendships. I crowd sourced a bunch of girlfriends of the things that they learned in their 20s or embraced to be true that they are now realizing later in life weren't doing us any favors.

It’s impossible to pinpoint which exact moments or days in our 20s had the most impact, but they for sure shaped who I am today. It was every conversation, interaction, decision, success, and failure that I experienced in my 20s, which slowly molded me into the person I am over a period of time. And now at 40, I'm realizing those lessons had nothing to do with the woman I'm becoming.

Unlearning that You Have to Process Your Old Life in Order to Step into Your New Life

15m · Published 23 Aug 13:38

I recorded this episode from my bathroom as I was getting ready! Crazy, I know. But I had to get the words out because I woke up with thoughts about the idea that you have to process your old life completely in order to step into your new life. This podcast was inspired by a text message I got from a friend asking for advice and interestingly enough, she put into words what I have been struggling with over the past week. This idea that we need to properly get over our old life in order to step into our new one. I offer in this quick episode that there is no old life and new life. Just life. And its messy. And damn if it isn't beautiful.

Unlearning that you have something to prove

35m · Published 17 Aug 22:31

In this solo episode, I unpack a topic I've been quite literally obsessed with and that is this incessant need to prove yourself. There isn't a single place in our lives where we can't find some area where we are trying to prove others wrong or are desperately afraid of proving them right. Well, I'm tired of all this proving and offer an alternative option in this conversation - what if we abandoned the idea that we have anything to prove in the first place? Wild idea, I know. Instead, decide that we've already proven enough. Celebrate where you are in your process and forego all of the proving - because the real spoiler in all of it - no one is paying as close attention as you think you are. So the only one wrapped up in this warped relationship is YOU.

I'm unlearning the belief that I have to expend all of this energy and effort asp art of proving something about myself. It's caused me a ton of heartbreak along the way; and I'm offering something different. I hope it inspires you to put it down as well.

Tickets are still available to The Unlearning Lab LIVE! on Saturday, November 5th. We'll be continuing the conversation on unlearning and you don't want to miss it. Grab your spot here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/379327949107

What Jennifer Lopez taught me about UNLEARNING + why I'm bringing The Unlearning Lab LIVE

32m · Published 29 Jul 14:51

In this week's episode, I come at you solo with a lot of thoughts. Thoughts from my time on the road, thoughts on things I've been feeling, and thoughts about Jennifer Lopez's Netflix documentary, Halftime. In this episode I share what has been coming up in all of my conversations talking to women. And we're not talking about surface level conversation, I’m talking, deep, meaningful, soul quenching conversations.

Listen up to why I’m literally obsessed with The Unlearning Lab, my group coaching program for women to break down the stories they have been telling themselves on repeat and how my framework has already helped women change their narrative in the most inspiring of ways. Also, I want to talk about why I decided to get back outside and have real, in-person conversations with women bringing The Unlearning Lab to be an in-person event. And then I break down and talk to you about what Jennifer Lopez has taught me about unlearning after watching her documentary, Halftime. I get into it all.

Unlearning That The Stories You Have Been Telling Yourself Were Never Really Yours

36m · Published 04 Jul 17:15

This week, I open up what I've been up to over the last few weeks embracing my own enoughness. It's been a journey - both a physical and emotional one and it all started back in Sedona. I share what a four-day retreat in the mountains with healing practitioners had me realize about myself and the stories I have been telling myself. I open up about a past memory I had as a child and unpack how deeply impressionable we are as children and how experiences shape us into the adults we are today. I take you through the twists and turns of the last few weeks and offer that in adulthood, we have a chance to heal our wounded inner child and create the safe, secure inner and outer environments our younger selves always wanted. I want us all to stop carrying the wounds from our childhood, whether it's simple or complex trauma. My goal for you listening to this episode is to not feel alone with your past hurts and feelings, and finally give ourselves permission to stop covering them up because you feel like that's what everyone else is doing. Let's heal those wounded parts of ourselves that may have been formed in childhood together.

Unlearning How to Embrace Your Body with Radical Self-Acceptance with Molly Goodman

46m · Published 06 Jun 10:44

Let’s face it, many of us are in a disparaging relationship with our bodies. We transpose an innocent comment from a friend into a deposition on our appearance. We beat ourselves up—sometimes literally—every time we gain a few pounds, go on a crash diet, then cheat on that diet, throwing our body into a seesaw of coping strategies to try to force the outcome we feel we should be at. The truth is: our environment influences our body image. We pick up on the body-image culture from seemingly everywhere: school; work comments; friends; parties; television; magazines with size zero models on every page - it's never-ending.

From our earliest days, we hear our physical appearance is critically important in every facet of our life. One off-putting look or perceived slight can send us into crisis mode. If we are not careful, we pass this mindset onto our inner circle and to our children. Now, we know how we got here. The question is, how do we break out of this unhealthy mindset and get not only comfortable with our bodies, but have a healthy relationship to accepting our bodies confidently?

In this powerful conversation with Molly Goodman, a life coach and intuitive mentor, we unpack the unlearning journey as it relates to body image, how toxic diet culture is, and how to release the shame that so many of us have with relationship to our bodies and instead focusing on how to prioritize what makes your body work, feel good and function best over constant thoughts of losing weight and what you see in the mirror.

In this episode of Embracing Enough, I sit down with Molly Goodman, life coach and intuitive mentor. Molly is a Certified Life Coach dedicated to helping women develop intuitive self-trust and heal their body image. She guides clients into the gray area of life so they can abandon perfectionism and diet culture, instead of abandoning themselves. Using a unique combination of coaching, creative self-care techniques, and mindset makeovers, she teaches her clients to love and respect their bodies exactly as they are. It's her mission to help women honor their needs, observe their habits, infuse magic into everyday life, and expand into that next level version of themselves. When she's not helping clients ditch diet culture for good, she love seeing live theatre, watching Schitt's Creek, and drinking too many vanilla oat milk lattes.

100 Days of Unlearning...Challenge Accepted

25m · Published 31 May 13:13

In this episode, I open up as to why I had this crazy idea for the next 100 days to document my unlearning journey publicly. I talk about the journey I have been on to birth The Unlearning Lab and what pushed me to peel back the curtain and go even deeper in unpacking the toxic thought patterns that haven't been doing me any favors.

In this solo episode, I talk about the spiritual experience I had in Sedona back in January to navigating all of the self-doubt to then recently reading a book (Rejection Proof) recommended to me that catapulted me into this experiment.

At the time of recording, I am up to Day 6 of the challenge. I'm positive something will shift in my confidence and yours - but I'll let you know in the next 94 days.
