Unlearning What You Think it Takes for YOUR Breakthrough with Sid Scott

55m · Published 16 May 01:53

This week, I sit down with Life Coach Sid Scott who helps women access their breakthrough season. I met Sid at the EPIC WOMAN conference in Atlanta, Georgia. I started off the episode explaining how I was going through my own breakthrough at the time and am still unpacking what I'm learning from it all (and of course, UNLEARNING). Sid is an ambassador for the EPIC WOMAN Conference and a phenomenal coach - and if you know Sid, you immediately feel this grounded confidence in him. So, when I heard that he works explicitly with women as a coach, and I had to learn more.

Sid Scott is the creator of the CURE coaching framework, which is the process he uses to help women achieve their best breakthroughs. His company, Your Best Breakthrough empowers women to breakthrough physically, emotionally, spiritually AND financially. Having spent 8 years as a language analyst working in counter-intelligence, he uses a tactical yet spiritual approach to guiding women through the work to have them boldly step into the woman who creates all of the outcomes she desires. Sid has gone through physical, spiritual, emotional and financial breakthroughs with the support of the incredible women in his life, and so he aims to pour into who has poured into him.

In this conversation, Sid and I talk about what he finds most common amongst his clients that they are consciously trying to unlearn, and we unpack what he in this season has been working to unlearn himself.

Eggshells

30m · Published 02 May 12:28

Unlearning is a tricky thing. It’s hard to unlearn ANYTHING that has been so deeply part of your conditioning that you’ve barely noticed it. You don’t even know where your identity begins and the programming you’ve been conditioned to align yourself with ends. And if you’re anything like me, and consciously wanting to unpack how all of this conditioning hasn’t been serving you, it can feel like you are perpetually walking on eggshells.

Walking on eggshells is linked to feeling self-conscious and cautious about what you do and say. It feels like being in a hypervigilant state of awareness about the emotional state of others; and it can manifest as automatically scanning others for cues or behavior in order to avoid confrontation, rejection, conflict or that person’s erratic or explosive responses.

I’m not ashamed to admit it, but I feel like I’ve been walking on eggshells my whole life - afraid to do or say the wrong thing all the time.

In this week's episode, I talk about my relationship to walking on eggshells in virtually every facet of my life and the ways it has held me back. And declare that I no longer want to walk on that shaky ground a second longer.

I hope you enjoy it.

Unlearning Mixed Messaging about What We Should Pursue with Mickaela McNatt

49m · Published 22 Apr 17:38

This week, I sit down with Mickaela McNatt from Magnify More to talk about unlearning the mixed messaging we received growing up and what it takes to choose something different. In this conversation, we go all in and explore what it is to FULLY embody your magic... FULLY embody your bigness... FULLY embody the fullness of who you are, whatever that looks like and however that feels true for you.

We hear from Mickaela about her unlearning journey sorting through all of the messages she received about what she should aspire to - being a mom, taking care of the house, be your own boss but don't be too bossy, ask for a raise but don't ask for too much, be successful on your own but not too successful. You get the (dizzying) picture. Mickaela lets us into her story and what she had to consciously choose to trust her own knowing. And it is powerful, trust me!

Mickaela McNatt is a Trainer of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Master Success Coach and Reiki Master. She’s the founder and head trainer of Magnify More, a coaching and training institute.

As the world is waking up and many are hearing the call to make an impact in the lives of others, Mickaela realized the need for training and education around how to guide ourselves AND our clients through the depths of life-long transformation. Her NLP & Coach Certification program certifies students who feel they are on assignment to raise the frequency of the planet through coaching and healing. The program certifies students in NLP, hypnosis, and a variety of other healing modalities so they can do just this, both for themselves and the clients they serve.

With her signature Release to Rise Method she helps the women she serves release subconscious blocks that have been holding them back, so they can fully embody the essence of their desires with ease, and experience success in all areas of life.

She’s currently living in Dallas, TX as her home base, but spends many months of the year traveling the US with her partner and their sweet pup, Banks, in their sprinter van. She celebrates a life of adventure, impact, and abundance — while supporting dozens of women build the same for themselves.

Unlearning Perfectionism with Richelle Fredson

41m · Published 15 Apr 12:42

This week, I sit down with my book proposal coach turned friend, Richelle Fredson to unpack her journey with unlearning perfectionism. It's a topic that all too many of us can relate to and I know you are going to love this conversation with Richelle. In this powerful episode, Richelle and I get into the ways that the seeds of perfectionism are planted early in us as women, how it shows up in every facet of life. With Richelle and I both celebrating our glorious 40s, we reflect on how perfectionism can't take up any more space than it already has in our lives.

Richelle Fredson, book publishing consultant and the “six-figure book deal coach,” knows all the angles of the publishing biz. An industry vet, she spent 15 years at Hay House Inc., most recently as the Director of Publicity and Book Marketing, as well as Acquisitions. She now works with aspiring and existing authors who are looking to expand their business, create an impact, and shift the current dialogue.

Her expertise, paired with her sharp instincts, has helped hundreds of authors create impactful and marketable book concepts and proposals, resulting in millions of dollars in publishing deals with top publishers. Her recent clients include Farnoosh Torabi, Chrissy King, Jannese Torres-Rodriguez, Jen Winston, Dr. Vanessa Marin and more.

Richelle brings a unique gift to the table: she’s been on both sides of the deal and knows what publishers and authors are looking for and how to get it. Through this lens, she guides authors as they anchor their stories and amplify their expertise to make a greater impact.

She’s also the host of the Bound + Determined podcast where she lifts the veil on book publishing through education and interviews.

If you want to learn more about Richelle and her Book Publishing Roadmap, head over to www.richellefredson.com to get insight on how to clarify YOUR book idea, what agents and publishers are looking for, and how to begin your book proposal!

Unlearning What You've Been Taught about Being a Man: A Conversation with Eddy and Carson

1h 4m · Published 08 Apr 13:28

Have you ever wondered whether men are having their own conversations about confidence, enoughness, and unlearning toxic narratives that they have been raised with? I wondered! And if you were, too then this episode is for you!

This week, I sit down with my two friends, Carson and Eddy, to unpack what they have been consciously working to unlearn around expectations of manhood and masculinity and what's really going on with how their confidence gets tested. We talk intimate partnerships, fatherhood, navigating the workplace and the underbelly of emotions that sometimes men don't always feel like they can fully express.

So, yes, we do talk to MEN here on Embracing Enough. In fact, this conversation made me want to do more of it. We love men, but what's more, we love raw and honest conversation where we get to show up authentically.

Here's to men like Carson and Eddy who are brave enough to share their truth.

Unlearning the Belief that You're Broken

22m · Published 04 Apr 18:04

In this solo episode, I talk through my current unlearning of the belief that there is something "broken" about me and that I need fixing. A couple of weeks, I got some UNSOLICITED feedback from someone who called me out for being a coach and helping women out on their journey because I was clearly SO broken. Did it hurt when I heard it? Duh. I'm human. But I also didn't need to internalize it as my truth.

I hear from women all the time that they feel like they're broken and what's worse, some feel beyond repair. But I'm here to talk about that it couldn't be further from the truth. There is nothing about you that needs to be fixed. Subscribing to the belief that there is something broken in us or that needs to be fixed keeps us stuck and stagnant; and robs us of our confidence to do the things that really matter to us. Here's a thought: why not try on the idea that you can give yourself massive amounts of self-love, compassion and permission instead of hyper-focusing on the broken parts of you and see what that feels like.

That's what I choose to do - in every moment of every day.

Unlearning the Belief that You Don't Belong with Dr. Sylvia Kalcinski

53m · Published 25 Mar 21:52

In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Sylvia Kalcinski, a family and marriage therapist and the host of the Dr. Sylvia K podcast. She currently lives in Miami with her husband and son and has made it her mission to support people in finding courage, strength and the right tools to feel better through therapy.

Sylvia and I met during our book proposal group and felt this instant connection. We unpack her own unlearning journey and how she reflects on what unlearning has looked at during different stages of her life. Her unique ability to understanding how overwhelming emotions can feel like they take over and impact our well-being and relationships. She believes that while we can't get rid of our emotions, we can however learn to better manage them and improve stress management. She focuses in mindfulness, dialectical behavior therapy and systemic therapies.

In this conversation, Sylvia lets us into her journey of navigating her own sense of belonging, safety, and connection and what she has had to unlearn in order to interrupt her own thought patterns that have kept her stuck. This is a heart-filled episode that allows us to understand the connection between our underlying beliefs that we hold about ourselves can be connected to the imprint that traumatic experiences can have on us.

Unlearning the Need to Hustle and Grind and Be in Flow with Carla Marconi

48m · Published 18 Mar 12:20

This week, I sit down with Carla Marconi and talk about the need to unlearn the outdated belief that we need to hustle and grind it out in order to be successful. After spending 10 years playing it safe and doing what she felt she was “supposed to” as a Marketing and Sales Specialist, she finally took the leap into a life she loves. And now, she is teaching other women how to do the same.

Using her signature Soul Rhythm Business Method—an all-encompassing mind, body, and soul approach— she helps multi-passionate women align their strategy, energy, and action to confidently start and grow sustainable, soul-aligned businesses. Because she believes that we have this one life to live. Why not make the journey one filled with personal growth, transformations, and soul-aligned passion and purpose?

Carla is a business coach and an NLP Master Practitioner and runs Soul Rhythm. In her work, she helps entrepreneurs ditch the overwhelm and align their strategy, energy and actions, so they can run a business that doesn’t run them and finally get the results they want. In this episode, we talk about her journey and relationship to the grind both in working as a top sales associate as well as working for herself - and how the journey to unlearning doing more allowed her to step into a season where she has had the biggest levels of growth ever.

Today, through her business mindset coaching offered through Soul Rhythm, she helps female entrepreneurs master the inner game of running their business, by upgrading their belief systems and business strategy, so they can fire the inner critic and become masterful business women. So much of what helped her step up into the woman she is today was learning to make decisions faster, constantly building her confidence, clearing energetic blocks and rising into her role as a LEADER.

What I loved about this conversation is the internalized story so many women have about the constant need to both hustle and prove; and how we eventually get to a point where we realize that is doesn't really serve our highest good. Carla is all about helping her clients achieve success; but is also really clear about helping women have more fun and create a bigger impact in the process.

Carla is offering her signature program Magnetic Leadership geared for women who are ready to ditch the imposter syndrome, strengthen their confidence and step into the business leader they know they are capable of, so they can tap into their innate charisma and move the needle forward faster in their business and life. You can learn more about it here: https://www.soulrhythmco.com/magneticleadership

The Connection Between Validation and Belonging

28m · Published 14 Mar 14:58

This week, I share my thoughts about the inextricable link between validation and belonging. It's no secret that so many women struggle with chasing external validation in everything they can reach for - in the jobs we covet, in the partners we seek out to the friendship circles we gravitate towards. But what I have found is that it has very little to do with craving acceptance and approval and more to do with the fact that for years, we as women have not been encouraged to find acceptance in the place that it actually matters - within ourselves.

One of the most important pieces of advice I've been reminded by is that you have to, first and foremost, remember that you belong to yourself. As Brene Brown shares in her book, Atlas of the Heart, (which I geek out over in this episode by the way) she tells us that our yearning for belonging is so hardwired that we often try to acquire it by any means necessary - including trying to fit in and hustling for approval and acceptance. I find myself saying this over and over to women I coach and am in conversation with - those efforts are in fact hollow substitutes for belonging and they are also the greatest barriers. When we work to fit in and be accepted, our "belonging" is tenuous.

Belonging is scary AF. We want it badly. At times, it can feel damn near close to life or death. Feeling a sense of belonging, of acceptance and of approval is beyond normal; but the risk of not receiving it can feel like a nasty blow to our ego. It makes us question the very essence of our worth.

Our saving grace will come from the very advice the queen herself (Brene Brown) gives in her book. Brene admittedlly is one of my many BFFs in my head and she shares that true belonging doesn’t require you to change who you are; it requires you to be who you are. Because we can feel belonging only if we have the courage to share our most authentic selves with people, our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance.

Let us keep being brave to remember that we don't have to change who we are, we just have to have the courage to be who we are.

Unlearning Who We Think We Should Be with Kristen D. Boice

51m · Published 03 Mar 18:15

In this week's episode, we sit down with Kristen D. Boice, a licensed marriage and family therapist and host of the Close the Chapter podcast. Based in Indiana, Kristen has spent the last 18 years as a psychotherapist helping people build healthy relationships, make life transitions, navigate grief and deal with the hard stuff life throws at us. She share her journey about what it took to become a therapist after years in a very different career, her own experience with therapy, and what it all has taught her. You are going to love this conversation as it gives us an exclusive look into how Kristen helps others process the past, accept themselves and live more fully (and joyfully) in who they are - because sometimes that's the hardest thing of all to do.

Kristen let us into her story, what she is consciously unlearning, and gives us insight into how she has built her own counseling practice (Pathways to Healing Counseling). What I loved about this conversation is how we dig into the layers of conditions that we all have around who we think we should be versus the people we want to be - and how in the midst of it all it's so easy to lose track. I know you will take so many lessons from this conversation, so grab your notebook!
