Celebrity Tea: Dissecting Celebrity PR Moves on Social Media

When it comes to staying up to date with celebrities, we have seen a movement from tabloid news to social media since 2016. Since then, celebrities have begun to share their news on social media rather than relying on news organizations to always disperse news for them. In this episode, Taylor Cook and Eduardo Strobel dissect celebrities’ public relations tactics on social media. Celebrity Tea comments on the shift in how celebrity public relations function and provides positive and negative instances of their public relations on social media. Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis’s apology video after showing support for the harassment case against Danny Masterson caused serious backlash on social media. We take a deep dive into other PR tactics they could have employed to handle the situation. We also compare social media accounts of other celebrities, such as Taylor Swift and Nina Dobrev. Looking at the differences between these celebrities’ posts and their engagement with the public. In this episode, Jordan & Mateo explore the importance of digital marketing in the film industry and how it can make or break a movie's success. We begin by discussing what makes a good digital campaigns for movies, which includes having a clear and concise message, using targeted advertising to reach the right audience, and creating engaging video content that build anticipation. Next, we discuss how campaign for the upcoming Super Mario movie has done a great job of doing so. We discuss the various tactics used in the campaign, such as consistent video creation, using outside-of-the-box digital tactics, and partnering with popular influencers and brands. Finally, we look back at the 1993 Super Mario movie and how it could have been more successful if it could have had a strong digital marketing campaign. Maddie Goerl and Alex Zito discuss the public relations nightmare that was the Kendall Jenner Pepsi commercial. Although Jenner and Pepsi had good intentions, the commercial seemingly used the Black Lives Matter movement as a secondary element that was inappropriately used. In this episode, Maddie discusses how celebrities and large corporations float above the rules and the backlash of a crisis like this. She also talks about the importance of research in public relations and how it can affect a company's campaign. Additionally, Alex talks about comparable campaign failures and some digital public relations tools companies can use to refine their story and ensure it suits their audience. The common theme with all of the companies is their lack of thoroughness when going through the ideation process of their campaign. Let's Talk TikTok's Impact on the Music Industry

In this episode of The Music Sesh, Avery Savage, and Alexandra Austin talk about TikTok within the music industry. Throughout the podcast, Avery and Alex discuss how people find music today, what Tiktok is, examples of TikTok artists who’ve found fame on the app, and the public relations implementations of social media and the music industry. Today, most music is easily found on TikTok- which is a short-form video platform that people can share videos on. TikTok is one of the fastest growing platforms out there to date. Many musicians stream their music on other platforms too, but go to TikTok as a means to build up a following and truly promote promote their music to a fan base- both new and old. During the episode, Avery and Alex discuss artists who have risen to fame through TikTok. They talk about the artist Lil Nas X who rose to fame after posting himself singing “Old Town Road” on the platform. The two also discuss the band Honey Revenge and how TikTok has made the group blossom. Avery and Alex spend some time discussing the public relations implementations of TikTok within the music industry too. The two share information on how musicians can reach a wide audience as well as ways to increase awareness of a musicans brand. The two end with discussing TikTok’s recent ban and the ways in which this could harm musicans within the industry.
